Headliner removal - front dome light surround

Post by Lander91 » Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:29 am

Hi team, I've got the headliner out without too much trouble. I'm at the last bit to tackle before I can get the actual fabric off. I've run into a roadblock in getting the surrounding frame for the front central dome light out. Seems like its 2 parts that have been fixed together during manufacture, and by fixed I mean plastic welded. See the pic for reference, you can see the little dots/tabs that are melted/fused in place. The 2 pieces of the frame, the backing Fram and the visible Fram/trim seen from below sandwich the headliner between them.

Anyone who's done the headliner job know if this can come out some how so I can properly re-glue the fabric, or does one simply stuff the fabric in the gap using a trim tool or sommit?

I did mine 2 years ago. I just split in and glued it back together after new material was fitted.

Maybe another method but that way worked for me.

No worries.

Same here, cut off the plastic poles holding it together then glue gun to fix it back on easy job.
