So long story short I’ve finally give up on my C5 RS6 the engine just failed 2 weeks ago engine completely cut out, lost all power, so after the rac low loading it they hadn’t a clue.
So I sent it unit 20 and as I thought the engine is damaged beyond repair 2 pistons have completely ceased and basically done the engine in a repair would be a engine rebuild £8k upwards, anyway I’m after advise as too what are my best options break it for spares etc our what is the best I can get as a none runner? I know there’s a hell of a lot of parts that are obsolete now, speaking with grizz today he was saying the same.
Also as most are aware the gearbox was rebuilt and has only done 2,000 miles what is that worth, I’m only asking as I haven’t a clue what’s what and what too ask, that’s were you knowledgeable folks come in as you’ve had much more luck than myself, I’ve had nothing but bad luck

and Martin said in the time of repairing Audi I’m only the second person he’s seen this happen too, I wasn’t made of money but there has to come a point we’re you say enough is enough, any help would be appreciated, our to point me in the right direction, have have tools to break as parts but what time scale ? And how much to charge ? And what to sell is the key

really really need your help with this, as it’s desperate times. Thanks again Barry

I haven’t got the money to buy the engine, then there’s fitting, then something else would go wrong etc etc etc this car has crippled me beyond belief, it actually gives me nightmares now

So sorry Barry to hear this crap news.
I really do feel for you.
If you break it then it’s going to take time and effort to find potential buyers.
So if you can I would try to sell it as a non runner.
But I have no idea what it would sell for.
I would put a advertisement on here first and see if you get any interest for the whole car.
You may find you get numerous responses for parts. In which case it may benefit you to break it.
Fingers crossed for you mate.
You have been very unlucky with this car.
Have you got a price in mind that would be acceptable to you for the whole car !

Try also the
Facebook groups. Lots of interest there. (lots of time-wasters too but hey). I'd break it if you have the time, space.

That’s it Steve if someone offered me £5,000 I would snap there hand off , as then there’s no breaking the car down etc like you said there’s value in the car but it’s having the time and we’re to start when breaking it down
Have you got a price in mind that would be acceptable to you for the whole car !

If it was me. I would go online and see what a decent example is going for.
Your then going to have to deduct the engine repair cost.
That should give you a figure to start with.
But you will have to reduce that figure a bit more. To make it worthwhile for someone to take on a project car.

5k sounds reasonable to me. Especially with the gearbox work you had done.
Fingers crossed for you mate.

Thoroughly helpful offer, well played
Why dont you speak with Astro, see what price can be agreed for purchase and inc that in the ad that there is an engine available at ??? price if anybody chooses to make it a project, more appealing and both parties might get a sale etc

Thank you and I appreciate the great place your suggestion is coming from. I've not yet been disappointed in this community
For clarity though: I am not really "looking" to sell the engine. NC5RS6owner cited desperate times and I thought this could be a reasonable way to - help - and bring his car back. Seems to me that's not a possibility, so I'd rather hold on to it.
Really hoping my intent is clear and this comes off ok, as text can be misinterpreted.

It is a amazing offer I have £5,000 saved ,plus what I can get for my car is towards the next car, I understand what your saying, but I would then have a non runner plus a working engine to shift, I’m
Spinning

enough plates already

my head is pickled with it all, I don’t even now how much the engine would be to fit etc once bought, that’s more cost lol

it’s a mine field, trust me if I knew buying a engine would fix it once and for all I would be all in as I absolutely love the car, but it’s the amount I’ve spent already, it’s seems I fix something and then something else goes on it, I’ve had a unbelievable amount of bad luck

Guys, in your experience in the UK, how much would refitting the engine set you back?
