Door mirror

Post by Gav66 » Sun Mar 06, 2022 7:17 pm

Quick question are your door mirrors the same as mine with the black rubber around the edge ???
If I replace the mirror(as you can see liquid displacement) will the rubber just come off my mirror and go on to the new one, any I have looked at don't have the rubber on.

The auto-dimming mirrors are what you have and those are the ones with the black band around. It doesn't come off, it's part of the assembly.

I enquired about a new door mirror with Audi about 2-3 years ago. I think I was quoted £370 ish.
I like to keep the car in really good condition but £370 for a bit of glass was a non starter.
I went on eBay and got a complete mirror (surround and glass) for £20.
Granted that the glass isn’t auto dim.
But I won’t pay Audi price for a bit of glass.

I personally don't think that the autodim system is very useful, but I don't often drive the RS6 at night.

I am the same Ben. I don’t do much night driving
If it was the rear view mirror I would have paid. But that has been sorted now thanks to mirror John.
In fact I also have a spare rear view mirror assy that I bought from Grizz. I also had mirror John do his magic on that one.

Defo not paying £300+ not really to bothered about the autodim so will have a look and see what's out there.
Thanks again.
