The gear lights of doom!!!

So i am finding RS6 ownership is a lot like a Mondeo ST220 i had a few years back, when i was on the forums and there were listed faults etc, it wasnt a case of "if" but "when" you get to experience them
So a couple of nights ago i started up and had all the lights on the dash for the gearbox, after driving away slowly it was clear something wasnt right so i stopped and done the ole off and on, it cleared and all was well again... until tonight, just went to nip to shops and when pulling away it wasnt going to change gears, revs kept climbing and even trying the paddles it wouldnt shift up. Again i turned off and on and its cleared, for now. Have noticed gear changes have been more harsh lately also, is all this pointing towards the F125 switch?
I dont have
VCDS currently, cue everybody telling me i should have it, i know i know, and i'll aim to get it ordered now but its not the ideal month for this pi$$ but hey ho
So am i right in thinking these switches are becoming hard to get hold of? Does anybody have a part no for it if this is the problem? I'll add that the box has previously been done but not in my ownership, so not sure if they had the switch done then, probably unlikely as the car has been trouble free until now, thats what i get for leaving it standing for about half a year!

I don’t think there’s a switch shortage problem, but your issue sounds more like a mechanical one. You might want to check your ATF level.

Really
Shop? Even though the turn off and on clears it all? I thought it would point towards the switch
I'll see what i can do, its due a service and belts anyway so plan to get that done soon, need to see if i can get the fluid checked somewhere as i dont imagine its an on the floor job?

You said revs kept rising so I assumed it was slipping but maybe I’m reading you wrong.

Sorry mate, in my head it made sense but that’s just to me
No what I meant with the revs was, when pulling away and it was in first gear, it normally climbs to around 3-4K and changes, it wasn’t doing that, just continually climbing and revs still climbing, there wasn’t any slipping tonight
Although In saying that, the first time it happened a couple of nights ago, it definitely felt strange, as if it wasn’t properly selected in gear as it wasn’t pulling as sharp and felt like it was about 60% pulling compared to normal but that was right up through the range (was only a short drive leaving a street) but it wasn’t slipping as such
As said, when I have stopped and restarted the car, it drives fine then, gears are normal, selects as normal etc, just seems to be a hiccup when it’s left cold currently so I’d like to catch it before it gets worse
I’ll get
VCDS ordered as that will be the best route I’m sure to see what it’s saying, I’ll update once I get that but might need help as I’ve never used it before

Sounds like standard "limp mode" which is usually third gear. Moves off using the TC to slip initially and then just pretty much locks up so revs match speed.
In a car with a lesser engine you'd notice it being really tardy, but you have loads of torque so it just feels a bit slower than normal.
You DEFINITELY need
VCDS.

Mine did this last week, stuck in one gear and couldn’t change. Turned car off and on and it’s been fine ever since.
Plugged
VCDS in today and the only error that came up for the Transmition was
1 Fault Found:
18243 - Pressure Control Valve 5 (N233)
P1835 - 35-10 - Short to Plus - Intermittent

Update
Found quite a substantial amount of water on various footwells over festive period, are the gearbox TCU wiring or anything under the carpets? Likely this is causing my issue?
Currently removing said water and will probably have to remove carpet fully to dry properly

Will do, used a wet vac today to remove the excess but there’s plenty soaked into the underlay, seats etc out tomorrow to remove carpet
Any recommendations for the isopropanol and where to get it?
