Anyone in Ireland?

I moved back to Ireland 5 years ago. The cambelt is now a year overdue, although it’s only done 5000 miles since the last one. I can’t find any independent specialists so I thought I’d try Audi Cork. I was told they don’t have the necessary tools and none of their ‘technicians’ have ever done one! I’m currently for Audi Dublin to get back to me as the lady in the service department was unsure.
So, by any chance, can anyone on here recommend anyone in Ireland????

I’ll let you know next week, mine is booked into Audi Specialist Repairs in Portadown for steering rack, water pump, belt etc, might be a bit far for you if you considered Audi Cork :)

My best mate is from Portstewart so would be an excuse to see him next time he’s back at his folks.
I’d be interested to see what you think of them and how much they charge for the belt etc.

Guess a ferry trip to Unit20 is a no go?
My old RS6 went to Ireland, but I don't know who the new owner uses.

Getting back into Ireland at the moment requires a negative PCR test etc, adds to the hassle. If my trip to ASR isn’t successful, Unit20 is probably my next option, just a lot of hassle compared to dropping the car off 20min away :)

That was such a great car. I'm pretty sure I saw an advert over here with your car on it. Are you in contact with the new owner by any chance?

Audi Dublin just got back to me............ €2400!!! I said that's twice what I paid in the uk. The lady replied 'our hourly labour rate is €158:33 and we do use Audi genuine parts' :audibash: I then asked 'Have any of the technicians actually done that job before or will they just be following the workshop manual? She then checked with the workshop manager and told me that none of them have ever done one but it will be done according to the workshop manual standards :assflash:

So its either going to be a 5hr drive each way to the place in Portadown, or a 5hr drive to the ferry and then to either Unit 20 or my old mechanic who is an ex Audi MasterTech, down near Gatwick airport and see a few old friends while I'm down there.

2400 euros for an Audi dealer sounds about right. Assuming that includes the waterpump and thermostat.

Yes they are included. It’s done less than 5000 miles since last belt and water pump etc so was wandering whether to get the water pump done again?

I’m just not sure if I trust them to do the job right

At least there’ll be a 2 year warranty. I’d rather have them following the workshop manual than thinking they can do a Tippex job.

Although a friend had Audi do a Tippex job on his once. :-/

I’m not sure what the solution is. Hidden camera?

I’m beginning to think the ferry journey and drive down to see my old mechanic is the better option. I trust him 💯 and there’s a lot to be said for that.

Contact Daltons in Portlaoise.

They own an RS6 themselves, and mine is there atm for a service and a few bits too.

My cars never go anywhere else.
