Hi,
so i currently own a 8V RS3 and am considering purchasing a C5 RS6. Why you may ask ? Well, other than being a daily driver, i want to be able to put my dog or my bike (which doesn't really fit in the RS3) in the car and not worry that I'm ruining a 30K car. I do about 6k miles a year not including a yearly drive to Holland. I very briefly owned a B7 RS4 and the V8 filled me with joy even just the burble at low speeds. I've been reading up on the RS6 and think i am prepared and will have cash reserves for any major bills. Any advice for/against would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Dan
8V RS3 to C5 RS6 Am i mad ?

Do it. If you liked the B7 RS4 then you'll like the C5 RS6. You can read my back to back road test. I'll try to dig it out.
I like the RS3. That 5 cylinder.

thanks ! I will have a read. The 5 cylinder is the main reason i chose the RS3 over its competitors. I also have secondary decat and it is an immense sound
Re: 8V RS3 to C5 RS6 Am i mad ?
Had the RS3 8v pfl - also sold it. Was a great fun car to drive. Also no 2ndary cats, lowered on H&R springs. Was a bonkers car.
My reasons for sale - COVID and lack of new contract job for 4 months. Family - often we tend to take a trip to Poland so RS6 is more comfy to load and travel with family. Keeping 2 RSs on the driveway was getting expensive. Also slowly planning to move to RS6 C7. Just need some TLC on the C5 to get the top money for it.

I'd probably add that it would help if you have a smattering of tech knowledge / ability. Not only could you save a small fortune in minor maintenance but if you had an episode like me with some false fault code lights and limp mode, the difference between dealing with it yourself and calling the AA towing truck could be significant.
Can't forget these are approaching 18 years old and while mine is my DD, I have fall back plans.
All that said, a great car and you'll be lucky to find a better form factor from todays lineup.
