RS6 in pieces.
RS6 in pieces.
I guys,
I purchased a C5 RS6 in pieces. Looking at swapping out some parts on mine.
Is there an easy way to remove the centre bolts that hold the the top half of the back seat in? Getting them out is one thing but putting them in will not be fun. Or is there a trick to seperating the two parts of the upper seat? This would make it easy.
Thanks,

Not sure which bolts you mean ?
Re: RS6 in pieces.
The bolts on the centre hinge. Just watched a total tecknik video and he removed the top part of the back seat in two pieces. They come apart just need to work out how. Must be a locking pin or something on the centre hinge. Now it's out I will have a closer look.
Re: RS6 in pieces.
Not 100% sure with a 6, but most VW group seats are held in by a sliding/rotating clip on the hinge itself. I'm guessing your on about an avant and not a saloon ?
Try the following, fold both back seats down, (I DONT know how you remove the base on the 6 though) choose either side seat, and look at both ends where the seat back hinges to the floor.
You will see on one of the 2 hinges ( i think the centre hinge) there's a round bar holding the seat in the hinge,
Get a large screwdriver and try and prise that bar backwards or forwards. It's not a complete bar that goes all the way around the hinge bar, but more of a retaining sliding bar that can be moved.
This should allow you to lift the seat and hinge bar up and clear of the car. It 'may' have these locking clips at both ends of each seat, I can't remember.
it 'should' be similar to this VW jetta YouTube ( if Ive guess correctly), from 20 seconds onwards. I DONT know how you remove the base on the 6 though

I can't go and look for you as my battery is in the garage on charge, and can't open the rear doors...sorry.

Re: RS6 in pieces.
Watched the total tecknik video. The centre hinge has a plastic cover on it. Once removed there is a screw and a bracket holding the seat pins in. Remove this and you can lift the seats from the centre and slide them out.

Hi guys,
Is the ECU that came with the parts car usable in my car? They are the same part number. Looks like the parts car ECU may have a tune on it. Chip has been out and no pre cats.

Re: RS6 in pieces.
In theory yes, but it'll need a lot of coding to match it to the other modules for the anti-theft.

Re: RS6 in pieces.
Thanks Shop. Can I just swap the chip with mine, or is there codeing stored on it as well. Doing the soldering is not an issue.
Re: RS6 in pieces.
Good question. No idea. I would prefer to do the coding.

Re: RS6 in pieces.
Spare parts car was crashed front left. I bet it has bent valves by the look of the cam drive.
Re: RS6 in pieces.
Picture of cam drive wheel attached this time. Anyone have a spare drive wheel?

Greg, Haven't had time to check but there is a good chance that the toothed belt pulley is the same as the 2.7 engine and that part number is 078 109 111B. If so, no RS tax and there should be plenty about. I may have a spare but not sure atm.

Thanks guys,
My plan is to use this engine to get my head around the cam chains and timing belt alignment before doing my car.
After that I will tear it down and access the damage and look at if it's worth repairing. Very clean inside.

Re: RS6 in pieces.
Just an idea to test the ECU, if I fit the ECU, Cluster and immobilizer module from the spares car and have the key it should all work? Or am I missing something?
