Odd warm restart problem

Hi all

I have a 2000 C5 S6 (not RS6) but im hoping someone here can help me as the cars share quite a lot of parts and the S6 forum is dead. When I bought the car it was filled with problems but im pretty much there now, just got one niggling issue,

My car struggles to start but only under the following conditions:

When I start my car from cold it starts on the button
When I restart the car once running it starts up again fine
When I start the car after it's been sitting for an hour or two, it really struggles to start up again. I have to give it a bit of throttle on startup then it springs into life ... once it's running it's fine. There aren't any other noticable problems with the car.

The battery was replaced by the previous owner in the last few years so I dont *think* theres a problem there but its possible, I dont have another battery big enough to test with..

The car has a Bigas LPG system fitted but it does it whether LPG or Petrol is selected so I dont think the problem lies there (although also a remote possibility but wouldn't be my first guess)

Vagcom isn't giving me any error codes.

Anyone had a similar issue with their car? I did see a few threads online for other Audi models of similar era where the crank position sensor was the culprit, but wanted to see if anyone specifically with this era of V8 had any ideas..

Thanks in advance
Ben

My mate's C5 S6 had a faulty FPR. It was causing his car to run rich. If it's bad enough, then it could be causing warm start problems. What are your trim values doing?

Replaced the fuel pressure regulator with a new Bosch unit as it was a quick job but it didn't help :(

Does anyone have any suggests about how to troubleshoot the problem further? The crank position sensor seems a common cause online but it looks like a ln absolute pig to get to and I'm not getting any error codes in Vagcom e.g. rich running

Use Vagcom to check crank sensor signal.
