Tensioner rattle

Hi everyone,

Newbie here! I've got a 2003 C5 Avant which I've owned for nearly a year. Recently had the cam belt replaced and was alerted to a rattle at around 1300rpm coming from the tensioners. Apparently they are £500 each and you'd need two. Is this the case?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Yea, just made a video about them lol.

Easy to remove, if you have the cam gears off.

How bad is the rattle? They all resonate slightly at about 1300 rpm.

You can get new tensioners cheaper than that on Rockauto. There was a thread about replacement pads fairly recently.

When I got the car straight into Audi. Replaced belts water pump thermostat etc.
For peace of mind. Changed all rollers and tensioners.
Kept all the parts.
