Hi all I have the rns-d nav plus system but the sat nav has stopped working so I dicided to change the head unit bad mistake as I can't seem to find the iso harness anywhere as my rs6 has got full bose system with amp and sub plus the cd changer in boot. But it seems no one dose the conversion harness. If anybody has done this to their rs6 please can you let me know what you done or brought to sort this problem as I'm being told I will lose the cd changer and sub and amp for the bose system!

Actually no - I don't think that dynamic sounds one is the right leads.

I thought I'd jump onto the end of this thread.

I have a Kenwood stereo from a few years ago. It's a DNX4250 something. It's been fine until recently. It's now crackling in the left channel sometimes. It's not bump related and it seems to be only when the stereo has been on for about 30 minutes or so. That side also fades out and comes back.

I was wondering whether to get a new wiring harness for the stereo to see if that fixes it but I have no idea which is the correct one. With the age of the car if it's still using the orignal Bose amp (where is it on the car???) the caps could be due to be replaced by now. I know it's got Bose speakers but I have no idea if it's got the full system or just the BOSE door speakers but not all the rest of the gubbins.

Has anyone else had the same issue with one channel going strange and fixed it another way?

I would be extremely surprised if it was the harness or wiring based on your description. Most likely is that there are some dry joints on the pcb of the Kenwood. Visual inspection might throw something up.

That was my other thought but dismissed it as I didn't occur to me a less than 5 year old stereo would already be faulty.

I shall probably blast the volume knob with contact cleaner and waggle it about then. On the off chance it helps or kills it properly...

Sounds more like a board level problem, but it won't hurt to try some contact cleaner on the accessible bits.

Tried some contact cleaner a few weeks ago. It doesn't seem to be making the crackling on the shorter journeys I've done so far so I'm hoping it's cured it. I took the volume knob off and squirted the cleaner into the switch. Left it to dry and then replaced the knob later.

Just fitted a Pioneer unit (DA230).

The Dynamic Sounds harness didn't work for me (with the FKIT-AUDI-23 kit), had some interference, so chopped all the speaker wires off and just used the RCA part from the PC9-408 instead. The PC9-410 would have been the easier choice (I bought a few).

Another thing to do (as already said before) is to switch the ignition and constant over (red and yellow).

Even though I chopped the speaker wires and got rid of that pre-amp box, it's still a tight squeeze, so might need to think about the layout/ what wires to keep before fitting it all in.

Is it cured then? If so then you lucked out.
