I put new calipers on the rear last month - the old ones were getting a little tight and I knew one of the dust seals was split.
Plan to do the fronts over the winter, but can't really be arsed to refurb them myself. Are these guys as good as they seem to be?

A friend had his RS6 C5 front calipers just refurbished by them and he couldn’t fault the finish....

I contemplated using these guys too after reading up on them a while back. Are you going full refurb, replacing the pistons etc. regardless of findings?

Cool, thanks both. If the pistons are in good order I'll leave them well alone - however shotblast & repaint and and new seals all round would be just fine.
It's more a case of 15 year old seals in them - I think it'd be worth a fresh set and a check over to make sure I don't end up needing new pistons by leaving them until they seize.
And I want to keep it in top notch condition all round TBH - had the rear upper wishbones powdercoated & bushes replaced last winter. Got a lower set "in stock" for this winter....

Red or Black? The rears, as small 2-pot things, are still in black. But I did think that pic a few months back where someone had red calipers looked unusually smart.....

If the difference is say £100 or so for new pistons all round, personally I would do them regardless, but that's just me possibly going overkill after having a couple of sets of tired 8 pot RS calipers over the years. New seals are a given.

Leave the pants single pot rears black IMO, I never have any idea why people want to attract attention to the mediocrity bolted to the back myself. With a Black car, I would risk it for a biscuit on red calipers personally. Saying that, I had my 6-pot C6 ones done in silver.. Pic here - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=98578&start=225#p552192

Mine are being done at Godspeed brakes,£299 all in for both front calipers inc all 16 pistons and powder coated any colour and new decals.

That's a good price. And Godspeed are reputable too.... I have done them many times before on other cars but being that cheap its tempting to hand them over and get them done for me. What is the turn around time like?

Had Godspeed do a set of RS 8pots for me and was very happy. They do a proper re-furb job which those callipers really need, rather than a tart up/colour change.

Bit of a thread revival.

Anyone know what size pistons are needed for the front calipers? I've got a seal kit on order but they aren't listing pistons. Other site I have found have all sizes of pistons but don't have a by car search.

Local Indy that normally look after the car are going to sort them out. Don't need any fancy painting doing.

28 and 32mm rings a bell. I may have a set in the garage to measure up. Do you just need the caliper bore size for the pistons?

I just need to know the size of the pistons to use that fit. As there are 16 of the buggers they have to be correct. I'm assuming they're all the same size as well.

Measure everything just in case!

I can measure my old ones, but not for about 10 days.

Found this post and it suggests they're definitely two sizes. 28mm and 32mm

Are there any OEM part numbers knocking about for them?

I've just checked my spare calipers and definitely 28 and 32. I can probably find my pistons this evening (in an ice cream tub in the garage somewhere) and measure up the height and seal gaps if you need.
