Hi guys,im here for a while, couple of months ago i bought rs6 off here from guy called gedRS,poor ad but it was red and i always wanted misano, after few emials i decided to buy it,two owners (Ged since 2006) ,red, low millers in need of DRC sorting and due cambelt,so i had like 2-2.5K ready for this as theres always something to do as you all know,we agreed £5.5 and i went to look at it to newcastle upon tyne form london hoping i get back in my new rs6 down to london, when we get there after 7h drive i find out one of the tensioner in one bank is very loud hmmm quick call to my mate and he adviced me not to drive,ok i said i get recovery truck to get it straight to garage and do service etc,so this what we found when he removed cam cover,Enjoy pic

and few nicer pictures

so as you see looks like mrGed forgot to change the oil, turbo are also fooked. The wosrt thing in this sroty is i decided to rebuild it
thanks Lukas

Mr Ged thought long life oils change is every 10 years or 100K miles

I wonder how long you need to go without an oil change to get it in that state?
I used to really push my luck with old runabouts that I ran into the ground, and they were nowhere near the state of that.

There's no excuse really is there. Certainly 10k wouldn't do it. I don't even think 20k would...maybe 30K?
When I had the cam covers off mine on 80K, there was just the slightest discolouration of the cast ali, other than that looked pretty spotless. And it had always been done on 10K intervals before I owned it. I then did 3x back to back changes to flush it all out and it gets changed annually now, which is about 3-4K.

Not quite the same performance machine as the RS6, but my sister's old 2003 1.2 Clio didn't have an oil change until it came to me. I think it went from 40k to 106k and looked like this, and I suspect the previous owner ragged the hell out of it (had a bad boy exhaust on it). I took the cylinder hear off, soaked for a couple of days in some good parts cleaner and came out spotless. Flushed the engine through with some ECP flushing oil, two filter changes and put back together. Still running to this day.
