Anyone had this before?

Was walking around the car this afternoon and noticed a weird water streak coming from the back window trim. On closer inspection it looks like water has got behind the lacquer and it seems that the same is happening the other side but not as advanced. Oddly enough you can see it from one angle but not another. :(

Had a quick search of the forum and couldn't find anything. Anyone had this before?

How much of a pain in the arse is taking the window trim off and can anyone recommend companies that may be able to fix this. Ideally want to get this fixed before it becomes a bigger problem.

Cheers

Mine does exactly the same however it’s never an issue. I polished mine today and it comes straight off

It almost looks like the start of a rust spot under the trim, hope I'm wrong.

Yep. I've got that, on mine it causes a rust stain if I don't polish it (lighter coloured avus paint). It's worse on the near-side FWIW.

I’ve no idea how that trim comes off though?

Just use an ultimate amount of force. It's what real men do, it never goes wrong.

That is good to know.

Time to bust out the polish then.

That was the reason i got worried. Hopefully the above suggestions of polishing does the trick.

I would definitely be removing that trim to find out what's going on underneath. I suspect the polish is just removing residue of whatever is corroding underneath. If it can be corrected while it's still hidden under the trim then that's got to be a good thing.

Mine does it too I just polish the stain off now and then. I assumed it was the steel clip which holds the trim on to the lip corroding, but I didn’t fancy removing the trim as it’s been the same since I bought it and got no worse. I can see the trim or clips breaking and not going back on properly.

It's the clip for the window trim that's rusty and leaking it's rust p**s down the quarter . I replaced my clips when I painted the car . However 2 years on and it's just starting too do it again .

Was it fairly easy to remove the trim?

The way my luck is going this year I'll will probably manage to get the clips and trim off without a problem then the car will spontaneously combust on the drive. Leaving me nothing but a smouldering pile of ash and some window trim.

Problem then solved though, no?
