DRC Plus replacement Parts List
DRC Plus replacement Parts List
The time has come to swap my PSS9 coilovers back to DRC
A mistake I made many years ago now.
I was wondering if anyone could help out with the parts list.
I sold my old DRC on eBay.
Mine is a plus, and I know the plus springs are lower.
I need: shocks, springs, valves, piping (mine has corroded), anything else you might think.
I might as well replace all front, upper and lower arms, at the same time. Part nos for these would help.
Many thanks

Sorry I can't help but out of interest, why do you want to change back?

I agree, my DRC was a pain in the bum for the 2 years I had it. Haven’t looked back since fitting the PSS9.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
Because a Working DRC was one of the smoothest rides I can remember. For some weird reason I thought coilovers would improve handling but actually not so. DRC countered for loads in the car and balanced the damping, coilovers were simply no comparison, and Ive regretted it ever since fitting PSS9. I’ve had to have custom front springs to try and smooth out the ride.
The investment Audi went to with the DRC was clearly for a reason. i accept they are not reliable but when it works it really is very very good.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
I'd be interested in the outcome of this especially if the DRC is better at dealing with crap roads.
Has anyone ever decided to use air suspension components like Bilstein make for Mercedes and munge them to the DRC Controller?
These also look an interesting option: http://www.kwsuspensions.com/ddc Still coil overs unfortunately.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
I have PSS9s on mine. This and the disgraceful conditions of the roads up here are ruining the experience of driving this car.
I'm just permanently wincing driving around, wondering when that puncture/buckled wheel is going to happen!

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
Be wary of rose tinted retrospectacles. I remember the original press reviews of the RS6 saying that the suspension was hard and not terribly comfortable.
I was never very impressed with the DRC, but then it's always so hard to know whether it's working properly or not.
I kept all my DRC stuff and I may put it back to original one day. I think if you modify the DRC system to put a pressure gauge and fill valves on each circuit then it could be a good compromise. You'd need to kit to recharge, but there have been a couple of DIYs.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
Mine is still on working (for now) drc and the ride is as good as our new xc90. It has never felt uncomfortable, I like it and if and when it goes wrong I'll pay to have it fixed rather than fit coilovers.
Just my humble opinion of course.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
I have the 19s with 35 profile and I'd bet they're half the reason the ride quality is poor.
There don't seem to be any after market active suspension options for the RS that allow a moderately stodgy ride for around town/motorway cruising and then a sportier ride for twisty roads etc. Link it to the autobox gear selection so you had soggy mode in D. Then S mode and manual could be the sportier modes. That would save having to faff about with extra buttons anywhere too.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
Would be nice if you could put some of the electromagnetic dampers in like the E92 M3. It goes from soft and compliant to rock hard at the press of button.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
When I removed my DRC and replaced with Konis + Hotchkis ARB, I found the ride virtually the same.
It is (and always was) a noticeably harder ride than, for example, my FIL's brand new Peugeot 3008 (I noticed because we took him for a test drive in the new Peugeot 3008 and then I drove him home on the same piece of road in the RS6). But it's pretty close to my Saab 9-5 Aero Hot - I don't go from one to the other on the same road and think OMFG.
I don't know the PSS9's personally, but it's my observation that whenever anyone goes with coilovers, they always end up with harder springs and dampers - "because race car" - so I suspect that's what the PSS9 did. My own decision to go with Konis wasn't through being a tight arse, it was because they retain the stock springs. I've installed the Konis on full soft as well. Even on my Ultima, Ultima themselves recommend full soft on the dampers for road use.

Re: DRC Plus replacement Parts List
I have two rs6, both with the updated DRC shocks. One is my winter ride and runs 18in rims the other my summer with 19in. The ride is great in both cars. I understand DRC had its issues but the ride is definitely smoother compared to after market. I personally will stick with DRC.
