About to pull engine-any tips and have I forgotten anything to replace?
Hi chaps
Just about to pull my engine and get the turbos looked out and refurbished as there’s a bit too much oil in my intercooler hoses for my liking,so I’m going to go the drop the sub frame route just looking for any tips or tricks to help out? Also have I missed anything out to change while it’s out:
Buffkin
Starter
Alternator
Cambelt
Water pump
Thermostat
Plugs
Injector o-rings
Valve cover gaskets
Thanks guys

Re: About to pull engine and tips??
The only thing there I didn't replace was the starter. Injectors are easy to do with engine in (I had mine serviced, FWIW).
Also upper lambdas might be worth doing (they're cheap). And do a scan to make sure your EGTs are still reliable - a pig to do with the motor in, but expensive enough you wouldn't replace them unless it needs them.
Maybe also remove SAI and block off the heads - if you're in the mood to then code out the SAI from the tune.
Oh, and maybe also cam chain guides, depending on mileage.

Check the condition of the rigid cooling pipe that goes round the back of the engine.
Though it sounds like you're not pulling the engine. Just dropping it a few inches?

No I’m going to drop the engine and box on a pallet and pull it out in one go as I got poly bushes to put on the front as well-trying to get as much done as I can so it’s not off the road for agesShoppinit wrote:Check the condition of the rigid cooling pipe that goes round the back of the engine.

Yeah and really cheap, like £16. It runs through the steering rack chamber. Gutted I didn't do mine and had to repair instead.

I wish I'd had mine powdercoated last time I had the engine out!
