What tyre ?

My car went for its mot on Tuesday and the only advisory was that the tyres were coming to the end of their useful life span . It has conti sport contacts on there at the moment. Should I just go with another set of them or does anyone have a better recommendation ? . Having never driven it with any other tyre on I don't have any comparison.

Is there any alternative to MPSS until the 4S arrives?

Conti are poo on the RS6.
If I were you, I'd be trying the PS4.

I like my Goodyear Eagles. And they were a <beep> load cheaper than some of the other recommended tyres.

I've not liked the conti's to much although I had put it down to them being warn but if the general consensus is that they are poo then that'll be why I guess . I used to run yokohama A048's on my saphs but being as they are a very soft compound and these eat tyres I'm guessing that's not going to be an option even if a size equivalent was available. I'm probably going to remove the nobbly bit at some point so I can't run tyres without the worry of butchering them .

Right , I can get ps4's though a mate for a very reasonable price. Only catch is he can only do 265's for some odd reason . The 255's are at still better that retail but not as cheap . So, with my nobbly bits removed can I squeeze into a pair of 265's do ya think ?

They will fit but you'll have a greater rolling diameter resulting in a 1% under read on your speedo. Also it will slightly change the gearing making it accelerate a little less rapidly. Probably not noticeable though.

Bit it's only the width that's changing. It has 35 profile on there already . Just the 265 from 255 width change.

Nope, it'll change the rolling radius because of the profile ratio.

265-255 = 10mm. Times 0.35 = 3.5mm extra radius.
Within normal tread wear so hardly likely to be a problem, but definitely larger, changing the speedo to read slightly lower.

Oh right, my bad . Didn't realise the rolling diameter would be effected by a width change. Do you think tram lining will become a problem with 265's up front ?

Tramlining won't be a problem but I don't know how tolerant the abs/eps will be of the different wheel speeds. There must be some tolerance built in to allow for different wear levels but who knows how much?

No problem if all 4 are the same.

I understood he just wanted to change the fronts. Could have imagined it, though.
