Staggered wheels!
Staggered wheels!
Right guys! Done a little reading up on other forums! I'm looking to go staggard wheels, however I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in what the safe tolerance for difference in overall circumference of wheel and tyres would be! Say 215/35/19 8.5j front 235/35/19 11j rear I'm open to different tyre options either more or less stretch ? Any advise would be epic! I looked into 215/40/19 as that would be far closer 2-3m rather that roughly 13 ?
Re: Staggered wheels!
Already on 255/35/19 , why would you go smaller ?
Re: Staggered wheels!
What have the other forums said?
My opinion, it'll look w@nk!.

Re: Staggered wheels!
wheels should be within 2% of each other viz circumference.
Otherwise your diffs will be spinning and the center diff in particular doesn't like it.

Re: Staggered wheels!
Right so the diameter of the fronts will be 633.1 and rear will be 645 taking 2% off rears gives 632ish so this would be fine ?
Re: Staggered wheels!
Why? It will understeer like a pig! I have 215 tyres on my Saab diesel, and it's carrying a lot less weight up front.....

Re: Staggered wheels!
Not doing it for any sort of perormance gains I don't track it or even remotely drive it to its full potential on British roads as it's far to unsafe to do so with the knobs that's are on the roads! Not worried about handling
Re: Staggered wheels!
I'd suggest that handling includes braking, and you'll increase your braking distances.
What's your reasoning behind this? I don't want to sound sanctimonious here, but I don't see any benefits to doing this, what so ever. More grip is always a good thing?

Re: Staggered wheels!
Load rating ? a 255/35/19 is a 96 (710kg) the best 215/35/19 i can find is an 85 (515kg) .I wouldn't want to be in a 2 ton car with a v8 sticking so far out in front on tyres rated that low

Re: Staggered wheels!
Like mentioned no way I would run that sort of size tyre on 2 ton rs6
I think the only reasonable sort of option you have is to run the front tyre pretty straight with a 235/35
and a 265/30 on the rear. This will keel the same rolling radius but tbh maybe even go with a 275/30
on the rear as with the stretch will still keep it very close.
I have 265/30 on my 10.5s so think a 275/30 would prob work better and be more safe.

I just don't get staggered, I always look at the rears and wish the fronts looked as good.
