Switched 12V in the rear?

Post by MarkPRS6 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 11:00 am

Hi all and Happy Easter

I'm fitting a rear view camera to the back of my Avant and I need a switched 12 volts. I really don't want to wire directly to the battery as tempting as that is.

I'm assuming that there must be a switched supply for the stereo but just wondering if there is something a little easier to access?

Cheers

There's a cigar lighter in the boot. Switched I believe.

Don't you just want it for reversing? If so, go off the relay.

I wanted to avoid the switch on flicker when selecting reverse with the rear view camera i futted in mt 4 so I avoided using the reverse light feed.
I took a feed from the Bose amp supply in the boot. It is not truely switched as it stays active for about 30 seconds after you lock the car or up to 30 mins after you switch igintion off if you don't lock the car. Doesn't the 6 have an amp in the side panels of the boot too?

Pretty sure they are permanently on - used it for a fridge while camping at Silverstone last year.

OP has an Avant Malc according to the first post. Avant has a socket in the 'boot' part
