Fair price

Post by RJC14 » Fri Mar 25, 2016 10:51 am

Hi all,
Looking for some feed back from you all out there. Away tomorrow to have a look at what sounds like a very impressive car, the only thing that I am unsure about at the moment is the asking price? Currently asking £16,500. The car in question is advertised on piston heads and is located in Aberdeenshire. Does anybody have any thoughts, as they would be more than welcome at this point. Thanks in advance...

Seems like a lot of money for a 92k miler.

Doesn't say what coilovers it has, but the ride height looks high.

Offer him 12k and some punctuation.

Does it need to be a saloon?

I'd be tempted to get this Avant at £5750 and get it shipped to Unit 20 to make it just so. Should work out quite a bit cheaper and you'd end up with a perfect car.

I'm with you on that one.

At £16k I'd be either buying the one in Perth and doing 'stuff' to it or find a few more grand for a C6. I can't see any RS6 C5 being worth that much money, yet...

Me too.

£16K+ for a C5 is a bit mental as sometimes price does not always guarantee chances of an expensive failure just around the corner. From the description it sounds like it is needing a new loom that runs to the valve block in the sump rather than a new box. So you may get lucky and have a good one for circa £7K or if it does come to the worst you get a good one for around £10K with a fresh gearbox and still £6K better off.

Win/win either way.

That's what I did, it's frustrating at times and you need patience but worth it in the end.

'Gripper1' is yours an RS6 Avant metallic grey, parked next to Paddy's shop during the week? (Being cryptic to hide location.)

Hi all, went to see the car today, really nice inside and out and it went like a rocket. Tried to get the price down but they would not budge at all (Not one bit). Looks like I am on the hunt again for one these cars....and if you guys are right, they will still be looking for a buyer for some time to come. P.S. If anybody does here of a mint condition one up for sale, can you give me a shout.....
