I have just been to MRC and have had my RS6 remapped and boy does this car pull like a train now. Unfortunately, I have been told my torque converter is wearing out and advised to replace it.

Luckily I managed to get my hands on a original RS6 C5 torque converter and wanted to know what price am I looking at to get it replaced ? How many hours of labour is this ? Does anyone know any good mechanics/specialists ? Ideally around London area.

Gearbox rebuild joints tend to avoid London, the rents are a tad expensive innit. They can mostly farther norf, in and around industrial parks.

There's AMD in Essex (near Dartford really) who do C5 box changes. I've not used them but maybe others on here who have could chip in with their experience.

AmD outsource their work to JT Automatics who rebuilt my box and TC. I won't be going back.

Yes, it makes a big difference!
What made them say the TC needs replacing - did it slip on the dyno?

I'd say the TC was locking, TCs are always 'slipping', ne?

When the car hits 5000rpm the needle shoots gears but upto 5000 there is abit of a lag. I was told the torque converter is worn out hence the lag.
