Reputable servicing in Cambridge area, any tips?

Post by Jonno1888 » Fri Dec 18, 2015 4:50 pm

Hi - had my car for about 3 months, would like to get engine and gearbox serviced. Have heard lots about MRC and its great reputation. I am in Cambridge however, and difficult logistically for me to get there. Anyone know of a reputable place near Cambridge where I can get this done?
May pay MRC a visit at some point as quite interested in their remapping option

Cheers
Jonno

Hey jonno, where abouts in Cambridge are you from?

Well for starters, I wouldn't go to Burrell Audi specialists. I've heard a few horror stories when it comes to the rs cars. Although they are supposed to be ok on the more basic audis.

I went to grizz with mine, hell of a car journey, prob double what MRC is from us, but to me it was worth the extra few miles. There's AMD tuning in Thurrock, I've never used them, but I believe footers took his s3 there for some upgrades, he might fill you in on how he got on.

I know it's hardly near but I used the TTShop in Kempston, Bedford for a few years and they were very good and sensible money too.

Cheers Chaps,

I am just outside the city. I have been to Cambridge Audi already once to have headlights looked at, and was quoted £1k for one headlight replacement, so dont think I will be going back there! I think MRC is probably the option, just a couple of hours away so logistically a bit of a pain but guess I could hang around and then drive back. Probably worth it in the long run as dont feel that comfortable getting local garage to do gearbox and engine service if they are not experienced with these cars

Cheers
Jonno

If you're going to MRC for *anything* then expect to spend the whole day there (8am-5.30pm) just in case. I've been about a dozen times and it's always been a full day.

Hitchin Audi service dept is very reasonably priced and not a million miles away. I'm in St Neots and use them despite the drive as service closer to home (like Bedford Audi) is shockingly bad.
