NewBee Q. - 2003 OEM Front Brake Disc Options

Post by johnboy1973 » Sat Nov 21, 2015 2:37 pm

Hi all

Hoping to join the ranks of RS6 Ownership in the next few weeks, after working through the Audi Avant ranks, having owned a early B5 2.5 TDI Quattro, then a B6 S4, and most recently a 2.5 TDi Quattro Sport.

The hot topic on these cars know is always the gearbox, and DRC, however one of the other thing I've seen is the price of the front disks, and I know they are very expensive, but the question I had was were there different options when new @ oem spec back in 2003. As in were all RS6's fitted with the drilled vented options, or what's there a solid option too?

I did have a good route around on the net to answer this, so if I missed it somewhere I apologise, don't flam me.

cheers in advance.

John

cheers that's the nugget that helps ;0)

PR-1LJ or PR-1LP I guess? ;0)

So having looked at the tread, another question I have is, why am I getting told by a RS4 B5 owner that you have to pay £1000+ for front brake discs? and there are no other options, just he just meaning if you want oem drilled discs from Audi you have to pay?

Do the drilled ones fail as much as I have read they car in real life?

cheers

B5 owners are living in the past.

You can get the drilled disks for barely more than the plain ones.

Don't pay the advertised price though. Haggle and you should get them for about £160 each :bigblink:

Just to warn you, this will be one of the cheap repairs on a C5 RS6.
Have you had a good read through this forum? You'll learn A LOT and it may help decide if you can afford to run one of these. I'm not saying you can't, but it's nice to know before you jump in and then realize you can't.
Where are you based too, make sure you have someone local who knows about the cars to do any repairs.
And the final one, do you have a good sense of humour?

Or you could go here and pay £160 without having to haggle

^^The fronts are 150. The rears are more expensive, bizarrely.

And if married do both your wife and bank manager have a good sense of humour? :nodder:
