VCDS Codes Advice please!!
VCDS Codes Advice please!!
Hi to all clever people. Just as I decide that we must part company My RS decided to play up!
The ICM has aways been there and I believe is the Remap done by APC 5 years ago!
The two coolant one I can look at.
The others I am unsure of. Is it a vacuum leak, MAFs or N75? It rough idles frequently now and doesn't always give me full boost and then kicks in.
I am in Exeter, Devon and don't know of a RS guru down here but I have a very good mechanic if I cant do it but point him in the right direction!
16985 - Internal Control Module
P0601 - 001 - Memory Check Sum Error

Re: VCDS Codes Advice please!!
Hard to trust the error codes from a dodgy ECU, but it sounds like a fan's blown a fuse.
The fuelling and misfire might be linked ot the EGT sensor.
Log your MAF readings, too.

Re: VCDS Codes Advice please!!
The ecu is probably fine, but later rs6 software requires a code patch to increase boost pressure. No patch and it will throw the p0601 code.
I would sort the map out first, then start to deal with the other issues. If you Disconnect the battery, the p0601 code should dissappear for a couple of weeks

Re: VCDS Codes Advice please!!
Thanks Guys. I did check the EGT and on idle both were 5C away from each other. I guess it did say intermittent. Will drive it with the laptop on the seat and see what it says in the higher range. Only went up to 385 in the garage with a bit of Rev. The air filters were very black so did an early swap on them too.
What should the MAF's say and which box is it? There are loads of MAF boxes on the software. EGT was easy as there are only two!

Re: VCDS Codes Advice please!!
Hi Clever people. I am guessing MAF as I presume they should have the same readings? From the earlier post I can see a huge difference in Exhaust temps so I guess Bank one isn't burning its fuel hence a fuel smell in the car sometimes.

Your MAFs look OK. They are reading within about 10% of each other.
Have you cleared your codes to see what comes back?

Your -10% trim is a bit high, but within tolerances. It suggests that you have a slight boost leak.

I did but last night left the battery off so will take it for a run now to see if the checksum error goes too.
It was complaining about
Checksum
Coolant issue
Misfire Cylinder 2
Why do you think Bank 1 and 2 are such different temps in my EGT readings?

You might have a hole in a boost pipe which is opening up under load, a bit like a sphincter (bam looks up expectantly), which is causing over-fuelling.
