so thinking of a c5 rs6 again...

Post by tmg » Thu Nov 12, 2015 11:33 am

just sold on my c6 s6, and the car I was going to buy didnt happen, so am without an rs/s model at the moment.

nothing out there really hits all the boxes for me (including the c6 rs6) and I am half tempted to go back to a well sorted c5 avant - the wow factor is definitely there!

am I mad?

and anyone know of an avant with working drc, and fixed gearbox? :)

Same, love mine to bits. There's a couple of nice examples on here for sale I believe. Make sure you get MRC to bring the engine to life! :rocker:

I like the newer interior of the C6's but there something about the old car that I love. Maybe it's just the simplicity of it.

Yes, definitely. But get one anyway. Soon you won't be able to find a decent one.

 Maybe for the C6 and C7... We don't even have a sport mode, the only option is ESP OFF. We even have a real hand brake :jump_clap:

Yeah, I suppose the user experience is quite simple. I was thinking of the refinery-in-a-shoe-box that is the engine and running gear.

My C5 is the best thing I ever did (although it is my first "super/sports saloon" or whatever you want to call it), and I seriously hope to hold onto it for a long time now. I still can't believe I only paid 7k for mine, and it runs beautifully. It needs little jobs doing, but I feel one day it will be worth more than I paid for it, so it's worth keeping it tiptop for when I one day get bored, if ever?

Looked at C5's and drove a few before i got my C6 RS...

I have to agree its a more involved drive in the C5 but i have to say for everything else, comfort, relaibiity, power with not much money spent, insane noise and general use the C6 wins for me anyway not coming in here to start a debate just putting a point over to the OP.

I mean the C6 S6 is a very dissapointing car, if your basing your choice to not buy an RS C6 because of that then please go drive one its totally different, not sure how but the S6 just feels... well not very good.

I think i will own a C5 at some point mind, there's a lovely one for sale on Autotrader, but its done 131k which is enough to put most including myself off.

I've had mine about 6 weeks and love it. Still quite hard to tell exactly what it is, but certianly something about it that isnt there in other cars. Its the drama of it all I think, noise when you start it up, having to crawl over speed bumps etc etc. I actually dont mind the constant little things that are not working, it all makes up for a great driving experience, and owning experience. I may think differently in a few months however :)
I love the fact they are so rare, I've obsessed over owning one for a while and always been a fan of them but think i've only seen 1 other one on the road in the last 3-4 years. It get certain glances from other knowing drivers you just dont get from other cars, even Porsches, and other exotics. I think its a knowing glance that the owner knows his stuff and appreciates a legendary car and is brave enough to take the plunge and buy one!
I took it on hols to the coast a couple of weeks ago and ended up by mistake driving at a snails pace through a very busy harbour centre, people everywhere. Several sort of double takes from blokes and you could hear the odd comment 'ah thats an RS6' as you just dont see them that much. I drove behind my wife in it the other day and they look great on the road, just that little bit lower and wider than your average A6.
Not sure what I can get after this that will really ever replace it, budget doesnt allow for a C6

It's hard to put your finger on what makes them look so awesome. Lots of subtle things that just make them look so passive aggressive from all angles. Looking at mine following me in the rear view always gives me goosebumps.

The C6 just looks dull. Just IMO of course.
