Hot starting problems

Post by Jonno1888 » Thu Nov 05, 2015 3:46 pm

Hi - anyone had any experience of hot starting problems? Mine bursts into life immediately when cold. When hot, often wont start first time, sometimes taking 2 or 3 attempts. Then sort of splutters into life.

Absolutely no problem at all once running, and shows no sign of any other problems. Its only when restarting from hot. Was thinking could it be an exhaust issue, with a build up of crap in there, preventing a clear path when restarting (ive had some odd rattling coming from the front part of the exhaust system, gone now).

Any ideas? Should I be worried?

Cheers
Jonno

Air temp/water temp sensors can sometimes cause this as can MAF, as the mismatched info confused the ecu putting in too much fuel causing a hard hot start.
Just an idea, dont own one so cant comment properly

Either the crank position sensor or fuel pressure regulator.

I had the exact same problem. Would turn over until the 3rd attempt then splutter and need a Rev to start. Only did it when warm. Mine has a decat and I was told it could be the pre cat warmers telling the car to fuel incorrectly. Have since only changed the back boxes and don't seem to have a problem. Think it just passed with time.
