Not a lot of light outside

I've noticed that my headlights don't seem as bright as other cars. Would changing the bulbs help improve the amount of light projected, if so what rating have people gone with?

Are the lenses milky? What condition is the reflective material inside in? If it's corroded / faded then there's not a lot of point changing the bulbs.
Also, have you checked your aim? I find that VAG headlights are sh1te at keeping their aim.

They are a little milky, I'll give them a clean up in the next couple of day and see what difference that makes. The aim seems good, I have a reference point on my garage doors.

I cleaned mine up on the 4BH Allroad and it made little difference (although better) but when changing the units completely it made a considerable difference, considerable... Sourced on eBay Germany for a couple of hundred Euros a pair which was much cheaper than UK price.

Trups does a projector upgrade, they're not expensive at all. They come with a clear lens as well instead of the slightly frosted or dimpled standard ones so better focused on where you want the light. And obviously a fresh reflector bowl. I need to get round to fitting mine but all the adjusters on my headlights are busted trying to sort something out.
Get some new bulbs too, the HID lamps don't 'blow' like a halogen would, they just get dimmer and dimmer. Mine were 12 years old and dim as you like, putting fresh lamps in made a huuuuge difference!
