Nav plus radio code

Post by Jay_g » Thu Aug 27, 2015 4:26 pm

Afternoon all,

The RS6 I'm looking at needs a radio code, (the battery died where it's been sat for a while)

I looked in the service book at the dealers with nothing seen, I now believe it might be in the owners manual on a card?, but didn't know that so will have to look if I go back.

Is there companies that can provide it with the serial number only? I know Audi can do it for £25 (or possibly free) but that involves me booking it in, and a few long journeys with no radio!

Any ideas chaps? Or is Audi my only hope?

It has to be an Audi stealer. It can be done other ways but paying someone else to do it will probably cost the same, if not more. It should be a free service, it's written on the radio card but if the code is torn out and lost, Audi will have to log onto a server somewhere and sort it out based on your VIN.

Have you pulled out the head unit. Sometimes they are written on the unit somewhere only 4 digits either on a Sticker or with a sharpie

Will definetly give that a go chris, I'll order the radio keys and fingers crossed!! The lady at Audi did say it might be free due to the age of the vehicle, if it's not its £25 which is reasonable enough.

I will probably replace it with a double din anyway, it would just be nice to try the Bose out before buying.

Why hasn't the seller been to Audi to get the code? Bet you the unit is borked.

I'm in the same boat. I've not had radio or anything in the avant for about 18months, just listen to the Miltek every journey. The first time I went asking for it they said it'd be a diag cost (£110). I said fcuk off and left. Then I noticed the in the radio handbook where the code had been torn out, it had written "Lost your code? Ask your dealer for this free service." I still haven't been back. I'll be going back at some point very soon to get the code though, driving to France soon, I don't think toddler_bam and lady_bam could take the Miltek for that long.

About a year ago I considered ripping the RNS-E out of the 'loon and swapping it over, I'm still considering it.

Yep. Thinking about getting it re-charged though, I had it done when I bought it.

Well chaps, I bought it. The note from 'out back was enough to keep me entertained!!

The unit does work, it worked when he first got it but he let the battery die, and it's lost it's code. I'm not fond of the Nav+ anyway, so will replace it if it is broken. Managed to knock money off for a battery incase that's crackered.

Ignore the poor quality, all I have taken and I'm at work now!!

On topic:

I have a friend who does work for Audi, got him to ask one of the techs to see if they can get my security code, all they needed was the chassis number and serial number and voila, it now works.

Good result.

Car looks good. Don't see many red 'loons.

Needs spacers.

Nav plus radio code

Post by Jay_g » Fri Aug 28, 2015 4:53 pm

Thanks!!

I'm really surprised at how overall clean and looked after it is! It really needs a good clean, but the paint is in good condition, and sits at a lovely height. It helps I got it for a steal too!

I am a massive fan of the 'loons and the red!

I'll add spacers to the list ;-)
