New member couple of questions

Post by Chrisb25 » Thu Jul 23, 2015 11:02 am

Hi hi,

I'm awaiting the FON comments so get them in quick ;)

I've just purchased and awaiting to be told that I can pick it up a RS6 avant for £4k, reason it's so cheap, needs a gear box rebuild...

I've spoken to AMD and they can do it for 3699 but can't tell me what 'enhanced parts' they use or indeed what they are. Do you guys and girls have any suggestions where to get it rebuilt inc warranty?

Pictures and no doubt more questions to follow.

Cheers,
Chris.

P.s I'm also going to the 'ring second weekend in September, house is booked if anyone fancies coming...

FON.

Rule 1.

AMD don't rebuild the box so they don't know what the 'enhancements' are but the guys that do the build are 'interesting', they 'apparently' own a transmission dyno
The only real warranty worth anything when replacing a C5 'box is an Audi stealer but you tend to end up in need of an arsehole reconstruction after the prison raping they call 'customer service'. I guess the next step down is a ZF UK recon swap and installation from an approved ZF UK agent. Upon last check that was about £2500ish plus labour and fluids etc. Best of luck getting your beast all ready for September.

He should be safe, I'll be in the South of France the whole of September. Besides, I've got a fractured wrist, so while I do openly masturbate, I'm only doing as half as much at the moment, so therefore it causes only half the distress that it usually does to people around me. It's been a real eye-opener for me, people are actually talking to me again, albeit briefly, but it's nice to been seen as less of a freak, for a while.

Well you know the more the merrier! And Rule 1?

Do you have any recommendations of a ZF retailer/outlet or whatever?

Whomever is closest to you but make sure they've done an RS6 before. Or get MRC to do it, ZF UK do a replacement/recon deposit arrangement. MRC can do the gearbox swap and pallet your box (once removed) to ZF and they'll return your deposit. Call ZF UK to discuss.

Great bunch of people here, GL with the 'box rebuild, hope you get it all sorted soon? RS ownership > all! :)

Haha I did gather!

I'm sure I'll end up finding someone to come with, whether it be from here or not!

I know I can't wait, going to get gear box done by a company in Colchester near when I live when it's completely dead, at the moment it's driveable. As for RS6 ownership > all, we shall wait and see, the quickest car I've had so far is a 388bhp Nissan 200SX S14A so we'll see how the power delivery on this compares and how many times my cheeks hurt after being out in it :)
