Polyurethane bushes for the rear

My rear arb bushes and droplinks are looking a little shabby and have a little movement so I'm gonna replace them. Ideally I'd like some PU ones but I can't seem to find anywhere that does them. Still on standard arbs (yes I know!) and they look like 20mm diameter for the bushes. I've seen some other Audi aftermarket ones (for b5/S4) that look familiar but might not fit.

Has anyone uprated theirs. Powerflex and superflex only do stuff for the front.

Cheers
Chris

I need to look into this soon really. When on the ramps at Grizz's, you could see the rears are starting to look their age. Replaced front's with Meyle last month and will look to see if they do all rear stuff as well, can get them for a pretty decent price.
Good luck with the search Chris.

Have you not got Hotchkis ARBs chunky?

I looked on the meyle website and couldn't see any arb bushes listed - not even the fronts. Then again I also couldn't see any of the front suspension arms which a few people have (are they listed as S6 instead but still fit?)

Annoyingly if you type in 20mm polyurethane ARB bush then you get loads of results. They all look very similar and will obviously fit over the bar, but the bracket size might be slightly different.

I still haven't found definative proof that a specific PU bush exists for the RS6, but I was a little bored and was half tempted to order a random 20mm bush that just looked right :D

But I haven't done that yet. I might have found a solution though.

I believe the part number for the bush is 4B0511327. Its pretty cheap but will obviously degrade after time.
This part number also applies to a few other Audis, including the A4, S4, A6 and S6 from about 1998 to 2008. I took a punt and decided to look up the S4 parts from Powerflex and whaddayaknow they do a rear ARB bush which is 20mm (the same as RS6) and it even looks about right.

Shall I order one then chaps?

You found a 4B0 part for the A4 platform?

Why not try it then?

I personally would stick to OE bushes for fear of introducing more vibrations into the car and just change them more frequently. But then I'm a conversative fuddy duddy and proud of it.

So - do they fit? Yes

Was I 100% happy? No

Only took a matter of minutes to chuck them onto the car but even when tightened up there was still 2-3mm gap in the ends of the PU bush (at the curved end). The standard bush seems a tad thicker so it pulls in tighter. Not sure if there is the same problem in the S4 fittings (wonder if the brackets would fit?). ANyway I've solved it on my car. I cut a small piece of aluminium and slid it under the bush - therefore pushing it tighter when bolted down. Not movement whatsoever from the bush now and no gap.

I'll stick a photo up so you guys can see what I mean.

Here you go. All snug

Image

You can see the thin line of grease that has squeezed out of the join. And just about make out the ally sheet behind the bush. It's not actually that thick but I folded it over to secure again the rear mount

I'll drive it around for a few days and see what it's like and report back
