Hello RS6 crowd,

Picked up my new/old car last month. I have always said that my next car has to be an Audi. I have been looking at RS6’s for a while now, wanting to get the V10 twin turbo C6 variant but it was never affordable. I stumbled across this RS6 online and contacted the dealer for a test drive. Having seen the car and test driven I was convinced.

I have owned a 2008 Seat Leon Cupra from new, which has been my pride and joy so it gets to stay and the wifes Seat Leon FR was sold to purchase the Audi.

I have a few changes in mind already exterior and interior wise to try bring it more up to date.

Starting small with things like LED lights inside and out and then an RNS-E system to add some new tech to the dashboard (ill miss the tape player). My one and only gripe with the car is the old-school steering wheel. I have been trolling this forum and seen a couple upgrades in that department so I have already sourced a second hand TT-S steering wheel which will be going in soon!

You definitely need to get rid of that symphony... Maybe get an 8-track?

I think you should paint the rims in a dark colour, too. That looks nice with Avus.

They did indeed sell the avant, there are a couple of Avus silver that I know of in the Audi Club SA. We even got a few (very few) RS6 plus. Rumour has it that less than 60 C5 RS6 made it into the country in 2003-2004, so its a rare car indeed.

Love the sound of an 8-track, hope they have RCA out for my subwoofer and power connection for the disco ball hanging from the rear-view.

haha sweegie ill head towards the CBD and grab some of those tapes.

Already played around with some colour changes in photoshop. Will post them here for opinions. I do like the gloss black accents (which my Cupra has) on the mirrors so that might be an option as well as blacking out the silver surrounds on the grilles.

Some much needed updates on my thread.

Had a water leak which turned out to be a gash in the radiator. Replacement units are R3000 upwards and not available locally. Luckily a local repairer was able to fix the leak for all of R300. Removed and reinstalled radiator with my help from my old man.









Made and fitted a Quattro badge to the lower centre grille, ala C7 RS6 style.







Fitted LED park and number plate lights













Fitted a set of K&N performance air filters

Vent mount boost gauge (gauges were shipped in Nov last year and haven't arrived so going to have to make another plan)





Bought a WMI kit, coolingmist stage 2 system. Needs to be fitted after I buy one more nozzle.



Scored a flat bottom steering wheel from a TT for a good price at the scrapyard. Still need to source an airbag and sort out the wiring.

Good work. What's with the twin oil coolers; is that a mod you have done yourself? Please keep us posted.

The previous owner fitted the twin oil coolers. In South Africa the ambient temperatures are a lot higher than Europe so I take it a mod like this was necessary to keep the oil temps down in all driving conditions.

I did see a thread on this forum about the twin oil coolers being relocated to the front like my car has.

Boost gauges that I ordered in October finally arrived. Very pleased with the quality and look of the gauges.

Install:

Test fit of the gauge in the airvent bezel, perfect fit and finish


Tapped into the fuel pressure regulator boost line, used the t-piece supplied with the gauge




Fitted the in-line filter below the rain scuttle, showing where the boost line goes into the cabin


Boost line fitted to the boost converter from the gauge kit


Ran the wires through a small hole in the housing


Light dimmer switch used to connect lighting (so gauge dims and gets brighter with rest of the cluster). The gauge also needed +12V and switched line which I tapped into the fuse box for.

At night (colours match OEM cluster colours perfectly)




I can now confirm the car does have upgraded software, she peaks around 1.4bar and holds 1.1bar in the higher gears

Tell us all about the car modification laws/rules in SA...

I think the same rules apply when cars are under warranty and service plans that you cant (read shouldn't) modify them. There are some dealerships and manufacturers that allow it and there are some that are very strict.

With regards to the LAW they have recently made a statement that it is illegal to modify your car. Its one thing to make and pass a law its another thing to enforce it. The industry is just too big to do that, it will see thousands of people out of employment. That and there are worse crimes committed every day in SA that need the laws attention not fining or arresting someone with a cone filter strapped to their Corsa.

Agreed, laws are just a joke without enforcement. My business partner tells me if 'they' find a modification on your car 'they' will just impound it. I said the same thing as you, define modification and it would be impossible to police.
