Rolling road day?

Post by Talleyman » Fri Jun 20, 2014 1:32 pm

Quite new to the forum so apologies if it's not done anymore, but I was just looking at the videos of SRS rolling road days on MRC website - do RS246 have meets like this? Looks like good fun to me...

Yeah, that could be fun. Build it and they will come.

There was an MRC one done here a good few years ago. More recently we had an AmD one in November.

AmD won't dyno the C5 RS6's... I'd be up for visiting MRC

Why won't they do C5s?
They did an R8 which included disconnecting the drive shaft, and a modified C6.

They're worried about damaging the gearbox, despite putting a 3yr warranty on it. I don't completely understand their reasoning but i had mine in to have a replacement box fitted and a remap while it was there and they wouldn't put it on the dyno. On the plus side they charged me a bit less for the remap to make up for that, and as i understand it they do a road test with the laptop plugged in to make sure it's running ok.

That's alright, I'll get MRC to re do it, this boost map doesn't call for full boost until 4k rpm which I don't like. Can't fault the mechanical work they've done on it.

But is that only cos they supplied the gearbox or is that the policy for all C5s?

My vote would be for MRC as I'm only 45mins away if we do decide to have a dyno day.

My 1st thought was that AMD won't dyno it because it had a new gearbox fitted which would need to be bedded in for at least 500 miles before giving it full throttle but then you said they took it for a road test instead, sounds odd unless they didn't check it at full throttle but just drove it to check the map had flashed correctly.

Does anyone have a contact at MRC to see if they are up for it. Might be better that way than a cold call. Having said that I'm happy to call them and ask if not....

Speak to Doug. Haven't seen him on here for a while. He knows a lot of people on this forum already as he has fiddled with most of our cars.
