Replacing interior monitor switch

Post by pete62 » Sat Jun 14, 2014 6:06 pm

Anyone replaced the interior monitor switch from the drivers side pillar?
The switch part seems to have disappeared from mine and I was wondering if it is as simple as remove the old one unplug and plug in new one and replace.

Yes it is easy to do but easier if you remove the trim along bottom of door aperture and then loosen the pillar trim. You can then squeeze the retainer clips in and push the switch out.

Amanda1 very amusing if not very helpful
Seaneb thanks for that ,I assume you mean the long plastic trim that goes right along the door aperture.how is that held in?

Yes I mean that one. It's one piece right along front and rear doors. I can't remember how it comes off but I do know that it was pretty straight forward.

Hi, I have exactly the same issue with a busted switch. I wondered what it was. Is there a part numbers as I will have to get a new one as well?

I just went to local VW dealer (Audi are quite far away from me), they switched their parts catalogue over to the Audi one, found it on a drawing and ordered.

Part number for mine was 4B0 962 109 A easy to fit no need to lift the door sill trims just insert thin bladed knife carefully in either side (as that is where the retaining clips are) and pop out and change over.
I got one of eBay for a ten near . Not sure how much a new one is :thumb:
