Radio code not working after battery disconnection

Post by LunarWolf » Sun May 11, 2014 10:09 pm

Hi all.

Got a strange query....
I recently had to disconnect my battery for a couple of days to do some... ahem.... safety-related modifications :bigblink: .... to the C5 RS6 last week.

When i powered back up again, the RNS-D asked for the code, so i gave it.... but it told me it was wrong....
again, and went into "safe mode"....

Now... here's the thing....
I'm only 50% sure that i've used the code before. (done it so many times on so many cars, it's a bit of a blur...)
The car is preowned, and the code is written in the handbook next to a hole where the detail card used to be.

so, questions / permutations.....
a) Is there a strange bug which causes the car to disallow even the correct code to be inputted when the battery is disconnected? (I've read somewhere on the RNS-E you need to then disconnect the stereo loom for 5 minutes and then plug back in and it will allow it...)
b) If the code i have is indeed the wrong one, how easy (cheap) is it to get it recoded/flashed to work again?

As ever, i appreciate your assistance and input.
I am also ready for the barrage of ridicule at having the RNS-D... bit only if you follow it with some constructive help! LoL :smile_smoking:
I've finally got my head together but now my body is falling apart!

Don't have a solution directly to the problem, but I've used theses guys before: http://www.radiocodes.co.uk/audi-radio-codes

£30 and works from the serial number...

Good luck.

Never had a problem putting the code in mine. I suspect it's the wrong code. If you're sure you entered it right?

Tried using this guys before, the response after entering the serial was that this (RNS-D) unit was not supported.
Worth a try though, won't cost us a bean.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Your local audi dealer can get the code from serial / vin too. If its not the original rns d though you might need a specialist who can open the unit and pull the code straight from its eeprom memory. Id try audi first though - should only be 20 quid or so...

Should be able to get the code from Oirland...charged me £3...a quick search on e-bay threw up those Pikey mothers

Marvellous!
Thanks y'all!
Will it still work if the original code has been changed to something else? mOre than once, perhaps?
