Long time lurker. First time owner!

Post by saulcupra » Fri Apr 11, 2014 9:07 pm

Evening all.

After 10 years of lust for the big 6 I picked up R5 SKX yesterday.

I believe it used to belong to a fella on here, the bits he put on it are still on it from what I can see.

Its been a tad neglected but its still in ok nick and I think I paid a decent price for it.

Foibles so far.

Hvac temp changing from degrees c to f randomly, rns e retro fitted

Graunch/judder when turming right on near full lock

Slight whistle from the power steering on full lock either side

01119 fault code

Passenger door bouncing off the lock if shut too hard

Any advice gratefully received!

Congrats, Saul.

Get that car tip top.

The whine is probably normal on full lock.

The judder probably is, too. The Quattro diff doesn't like full lock.

The gear recognition signal sounds like a F125 fault. Fairly common. No biggy.

Cheers lads, going to take some time but I think thats half the fun!

Mav, no abs light on and no errors in engine or trans modules.

Going to take it to unit 20 for fluids service and health check next week to see the extent of what needs doing!

Also get the ecu flashed to stock to give me a base line to work fron as the boost requests are a bit all over the place!

Saw the car locally to me in cov a couple of times. I thought it was up a little cheap but the faults explain that. Get it tip top and you have an awesome spec car in the best colour :beerchug:

Welcome Saul. The door lock bounce thing probably means the lock mechanism is on the way out. I've had both of mine replaced in the last year as they started doing that (one of them today!) by Martin and Lee @ Unit 20. They'll sort you out. D

Thanks Dunkx

Thought it would be the mechanism, a breaker on ebay is flogging passenger and drive side for circa £35 each

Worth a punt maybe?

Can you remember what you paid to have yours fixed/replaced?

Cheers

Don't bother buying from a breaker, they will probably be as bad as the one your changing. Get new, they won't break the bank, and if they do, well, you're screwed.
