Post by Mathmos » Sat Mar 08, 2014 4:04 pm

Hi i'm looking to by a C5 RS6. Below are a few links to cars I like the look of, I thought I'd post them up here to see if anyone knows the cars or if they belong to any forum members. Also any input or advice about price, condition et.cetera would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Just what I was thinking, are all these priced correctly? Would there be anyway to find out if one had been clocked?

I like the look of the plus, but the minus ( :D ) is that it is Silver and I'm after a dark colour.

Sorry for taking the thread slightly off topic but are the plus's any less prone to the usual RS6 issues (other than gearbox)??

Perhaps a slightly daft question but thought I'd put it out there anyway!

None of them for the following reasons.

1. None have had replacement gear boxes yet and they will be coming up for a rebuild soon enough.
2. None of them have had the intercoolers, oil filter housing, oil cooler or lines replaced yet.

I know the above answers as I have already asked all of them you posted above.

Surely that's a good sign? Adverts that say "thousands spent on car in last year" always make me chuckle because it makes me think it's a lemon. :)

Surely if you drive the car carefully i.e. warm it up, don't thrash it and have properly serviced every 40k then it should last or should they always be considered a consumable item with a life expectancy?

I think he asked you about the avant so as to be able to narrow it down in your search , answer him and maybe he will give you some pointers :bigblink:

As for driving the car carefully and warming it up first ..................... its a racing car , dya honestly think every one whose ever owned one has only ever driven it like Miss Daisy ?.
If you think your going to go 40k before a proper service you got a nasty surprise coming, think more along the lines of 4k or 20 minutes, which ever comes first .
They do have a life expectancy , but your looking at 9 - 13 year old cars that's have had a few owners before you even saw them. expect the worse and it can only get better :beerchug:

I only ask as reluctantly I'm going to put my Mugello blue saloon up for sale next month . It's just done 80,000, had the gearbox replaced at 53 and serviced by MRC at 73, drc been replaced with billies, H&R rollbars, Miltek cat back, intercoolers refurbed, stage 1 MRC map etc.
