RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
Just picked my RS6 up and turned the radio on and it comes up with SAFE code. I have the correct code number but using the right hand knob it seems only to go to 1,2 and OK.
during my 5 hours drive home I tried to input the code on the hour every hour and after two attempts goes back into locked.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
The numbers you can select are displayed at the top of the screen with left right arrow and OK to the right of them.
You enter the first number by spinning the dial, then press the knob in to move to the next.
If your cursor is moving to the next block of 4 without you pressing the knob in then maybe you've got a broken knob. Try pulling it out a teeny bit when you turn it to avoid accidentally pressing it in.

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
Yep, can get selection to move to next space in the row of four for the codes and you can select a code. It only allows you to select 1 or 2. nothing else
What I mean is you spin the select knob I can only get 1,2 or OK to chose from. When you twist the knob it misses everything between 2 and OK.
That would be great if my code was made up of 1's and 2's !
It really weird why this is happening

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
What happens if you only turn the knob to the left? Can you cycle round that way? You are using the right hand knob, right?

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
If you enter 1 for the first block, can you then access the other numbers for the 2nd block?

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
Frustrating to say the least..... Have you tried pulling power from the radio? How were you supplied with the code - RNS-D manual, or by some other means?

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code

sure is.
The code is the original one supplied with the car when new.
Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
Went down and had another go to double check what I said.
The only choice I get are 1 and OK no matter which way I turn the selection knob. I tried pressing every other button in combination with the selection knob and still nothing.
Seems like it's screwed somehow.

Re: RS6 RNS-D Safe Code
Kill the power to it and leave it disconnected for a few minutes. Very strange & not heard of anything like this before.... Are you sure this is the original RNS-D that came with the car?

Yep it is the original one supplied with the car. Powers up ok with the Audi sat nav screen and then into screen that asks to enter the code.
