Help drivers door won't close!!

All set to get the kids to school this morning and when I went to close my door it wouldn't catch. Tried moving the mechanism with a screwdriver to no avail, tried locking and unlocking with door pulled close as well as open, still no luck.
Never happened before, it is/was about -3 deg so don't know if that's anything to do with it??
Any ideas as I can't get to work?

If the cold is causing it try playing a hairdryer over it.

Have you tried pushing the little latch in until it clicks, then using the handle to open the door (which then releases the little latch).

I managed to resolve it by squirting wd40 in the keyhole with the key in. I think something froze and combination of wd40 and time warming it up sorted it. Thanks

I've used graphite grease in locks before with good results - its what locksmiths swear by - but the locks have to be spotlessly clean otherwise you end up with a crunchy studge in the lock from all the other contaminents.
Top tip for icy weather - smear some silicone lubricant around your door rubbers to stop them sticking/freezing.

What happens when you clean yourself up first?

LOL couldn't get into mine either, ended up climbing in through one of the rear doors so I could get the car started and the heating on

Rusty, you didn't happen to wash your car yesterday? Mine now works after defrosting.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance it was just the frost but it was working an hour or after it had all had a chance to warm up, bloody windows wouldn't work for hours either! I'm just going to nip out and put some silicone spray around the rubbers to see if that helps things.

It was the cold frosty morning that fooked you all( and me), damn Audi and VW products, there all the fooking same , A4, RS6 , polo golf passat
silicon spray usually works for me, WD40 works as well but stinks .Keep applying the silicone every now and again though
windows should work within 5 minutes of the car running though. unless you have damp within the door itself maybe ?

Ha, had this with at least two previous Audis but not the '6. Don't do what I did with my old A6 and take a propane torch to the door edge: the door cards are surprisingly flammable
When people on here are talking about silicon grease, do you mean the clear paste that comes in a toothpaste tube, like
http://www.buyspares.co.uk/product.pl?pid=675950? I've never used that near a car...
