Some advice please from them that know
Following on from previous posts concerning a coolant leak and having to have the engine pulled I've decided to get the snails replaced while the lump is out.
Here's the big question; do I stump up an extra £500 for hybrids that promise to flow enough for 600+ bhp or save the extra for some other goodies and go standard spec?
I know that a few of you guys don't rate the hybrids but on what grounds?
Also, am I going to need some fancy "headers" to get the full effect and where do I source them? Not found anything after a casual browse so any wisdom much appreciated

It's no false advertising that hybrid turbos flow enough for 600+ bhp. What they don't tell you is that the manifolds will choke them off well before that. Not the turbo's fault, but still. And (to my knowledge) you can't solve this issue unless you're willing to go to a manual box. There's no room for improvement with the slushbox, as there literally is no room. Of course a more efficient turbo is never a bad thing but...realistically once you max out the stockers you're pretty much done. Maybe another 15, 20 can be had from somewhere but EGT and EBP is really redlining at this point.

You don't need to pull your engine to change the water/oil cooler . and tbh £500 for a pair of hybrid turbos is ubba cheap .... In fact far too cheap

Yes as long as the fasteners want to loosen.... The fastener that bolts on to the cooler itself doesn't have a hex head fitting, so you're at the liberty of the cooler itself on whether the fastener for the hose will loosen. The other fastener is just below/behind the front clip. Further, remember the cooler also has tranny lines on the drivers side which also can be a bear to loosen. You can then unfasten it from the brackets that mount it in front of the rads.

really depends if 'you' want to go to 600bhp and the other costs involved in getting there.
I think Mavs already stripping the car down for you in preparation for 600+ bhp
