VENT FOAM REPLACEMENT

Post by RS600 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 1:53 pm

Hi all,

Im going to commit to fixing the foam in vent issue. Will I need the vents (23,24,25,26,27) or the air diverters (8, 8a,9)?

Any ideas or part numbers appreciated.
cheers

Didn't know these suffered from this problem. Had it in my Golf 2. It's been blowing bits of black fluff at me for years. Now it's stopped.

Exactly that problem, the foam in the a/c vents has deteriorated into chunks and dust. When the fans are turned on it comes out of the front, side and windscreen vents.
To remedy the issue I would like to replace the parts that the foam is glued on to. The vents or air dividers.
Thought maybe someone would have had the same issue and come across a solution.
cheers

I think you're the first. Bad luck.

But the silver lining is that you'll be a trail blazer for us.

Or you could do what I did and live with it for 10 years until it's all gone.

In fact, you could find the source of the black crud and just scrape it all off. Can't say I've missed it in the Golf. Well, except that the heater barely works now. Might be unrelated. :)

You need to find the fluff tank on the Golf and top it back up :beerchug:
