Newbie from Wishaw (Lanarkshire)

Hello all,
My names Gordon and i've just become the owner of 04 RS6 Avant, Daytona grey in colour.
I picked it up a few days ago but working offshore now so only really had one day worth of driving.
I'm well impressed with power, lots of torque and plenty space in the back for my first 4 month old baby boy and all his gear.
I do have a couple of questions though- there are receipts for a full gearbox over haul at 95k which was done in march this year, the car is now on 100k. When i test drove the car the first thing i did was try it in sport mode and gave it some WOT action to observe gear changes etc. The car red lined in first without issue but when changing into second the revs rose pretty much to the redline without acceleration to match then dropped back down to around 4-5 k (can't remember exact revs) and progressed through to the red line without any slip and good acceleration. 3,4 and 5 were also fine with no issue or slip.
This concerned me so i tried it again with the same result. However, when i try a standing start in D or Manual mode there is no slip at all with good clean acceleration. I have
VCDS but never got a chance to scan for codes etc. Should i be concerned about this?
Also, the car is on DRC which has been fixed a couple of times over the years but i feel it's a fairly harsh ride with noticeable clunking type noises coming from front and rear, with no one corner being any worse than another. It seems to be the same when cold or up to temp. I think the back end feels a wee bit wallowy when going over pot holes etc but since i've only driven it for a day i've not got used to it or had a chance to get under it to have good inspection of all suspension components.
With DRC working correctly should it be perfectly smooth and quiet going over small bumps etc?
Any advice much appreciated
Cheers
Gordon

Cheers guys. Cueball- how you finding ownership so far? Is yours standard? I normally get all my cars remapped so hoping to find someone local with a 500bhp example to take me for a spin. I know you always want more power but i reckon 500bhp should keep me happy for a while, he he!! Do you know anyone local with a cam locking tool? Timing belt will need doing in the next year i reckon. Cheers.

only had it for a week, broke down already... sitting on the drive unable to move it....
I believe it's been remapped to 525 or somewhere near there... had over £10k spent on it in the past year, sorting the gearbox, suspension, tyres, brakes, etc etc
not been the best of starts TBH.

Mines was the same. Mountain of paper with lots of the common faults fixed. I've had 4 months trouble free though (and usually flat oot lol)

I'm pleased to see a few lads living close by, i'll defo need to organise a meeting with you when i get a chance. Like i said i only drove my car for a day before going offshore so looking forward to getting home in 10 days or so. Cueball- (or anyone else) I've got a genuine ross tech
VCDS if your needing to get your car scanned etc. I see theres some coding that can be done using
VCDS that apparently improves gear changes. I'll be trying that as soon as i get home. You boys with the remaps will probably have your TCU's mapped anyway…..my time will come!! Right it's time for lights out offshore, 6 o'clock in the morn will be round before i know it!!! Speak soon amigos.

sounds like a map/blip problem , either engine or box , specially as you say its been mapped at some point in the past. any paperwork to say who mapped it or what map was done?
525bhp sounds like a MTM job.
try changing gears with the paddles at slow speeds. See if you can change between 3-4 at 20mph and between 4th and 5th at well under 30mph ( standard change pattern is normally; 3 to 4 at 30mph+ and 4-5 is 40mph+).
if you can its had a gearbox ecu re/map , which could well be where your problem above lies

Morning, I think you must have got mixed up mate. My car is completely standard, with a recent gearbox rebuild 5k miles ago. It's me thats had an issue with slip between 1 and 2 on WOT in sport mode. Any ideas? All other modes seemed ok.
Cueball is the one with a remap up to 525bhp.
Cheers.

Alright mate. I'm well impressed with how many RS6 owners there are close by. I've got an Audi S2 which is my pride and joy and spent more time in the garage than on the road but it's work in progress. So far i've only found one other person on the S2forum who lives a good 40 miles away so not really local . Don't suppose any of you local RS6 crew own an S2 also. I've got a place in my heart for an old 5pot. Mines the original 3B model with a 2005 VOLVO V70R turbo ready to be fitted , should be good for around 370bhp with less lag than the original turbo which was hardly laggy anyway. Boys and their toys eh!!

None of our leave cycles can be in sync lmao, only ever seen one other RS6 on the road in the central belt and that was a C7.The only other daytona C5 I knew about in the area is pretty poorly and stuck in the auto electricians
