7 Hrs of cleaning & polishing...

Had my RS6 now for about 3 weeks, and finally got round to getting it properly decontaminated, scuffs and swirls in the paint seen to, properly polished, than a coat of good quality wax. Rule 1 adhered to, see below. Also spent a bit of time on the headlights as they were quite cloudy, needs more work, and the photos are pretty poor, but they look much better.

Overall quite happy, bit more work to do, and rear bumper has quite a few scratches, that I would like to get done.

Drove it home, did the work on the car at the work unit, it Pi***d with rain, and then today it got covered with cow S**t from the lanes......Ha F***ing Ha.

Thanks mate. I de-badged front and sides to go for the "its just an Audi Estate" look. Was planning to do the back, but the child in me took over and I had to admit to still getting a buzz from seeing the RS6 badge as I walk towards the car!!!! I know sad, but sure you "true" petrol heads will understand

Still got the grill badge and cant decide if I want to put it back on......time will tell.

Cheers chap. We (Local chap does this for a part time job/hobby) used Tardis to remove all the crap and decontaminate. Iron-out went on to sort any contaminants. Car was then washed and clayed all over which removed an amazing amount of detritus. Maguires tough polish was then applied with machine polisher and twin stage polisher. Bad scuff on rear bumper was hit with 1500 grit, 2000 grit and 2500 grit wet and dry, then treated with compounding polish. Paint depths were taken and looks like front near side wing has been sprayed in the past, possibly door as well, probably blended in. Its been done well as didn't see it before. Glass was polished and wheels done with a non-acidic cleaner, they were reconditioned before I bought the car, so are very good, apart from a scuff on one, that really bl**dy annoys me. The tyre walls were done with Maguires Endurance spray, and trim gel on the few bits of black plastic. The wax coat was a single layer of Collinite 476S, hoping to get a couple more on ASAP, once the cow S**T has been removed

Only bit that HAS to be done immediately is to get a wheel centre as there is one missing, so will have to go to the local dealer.

Mugello blue is a superb colour when it is buffed up! Mine had lots of swirls scratches etc, spent all one day last week on it, must say it was worth it, however think i will have to get the front bumper re- painted to get it perfect, there is also a small area on the rear bumper that I will wet sand to get perfect.

Mugello blue, looks black I think!?

Just need to find a good paint shop in Somerset.

I forgot I had an RS246 account. Not even sure why/when I signed up but it must have been some time ago. Good reason to show my face.

I very much enjoyed working on this car, one of my favourite "bucket list" cars from the past 10 years or so.

These are my two favourite shots. The scuffed up rear corner before, and then after. Was impossible to get perfect, but using the "scab" as a guide you can see the improvement. It feels a bit daunting taking sandpaper to an RS6, but you get over that. I've even used it on a Continental Flying Spur....



That's my car in the background below. It's a sleeper 315bhp Skoda Fabia diesel.....

Love Mugello, always wanted the 6 in either Mugello or Daytona as like the low key look. Also like the dark wheels, mine were done before I bought it and wouldn't have them any different now. I have a good paint shop in Exeter which have done work in the past for me, so they will do the rear bumper in due course.

I'm in the sticks off j22 m5, spend most of the time dodging cow pats trying not to get dung up the side of the newly cleaned car!
The wheels were also done just before I bought the car, I must admit I prefer that now to the silver, they come up with a very highly polished finish also, similar to that of the bodywork.
I would be interested in the body Shop as there are a few annoying issues with the paintwork that I will want looked at, had a bad experience with a body's Shop not far from me a while back where they damaged some plastic trim getting the front wing off to replace it they used a screwdriver to prize it, thought I wouldn't notice!!!!

Need to debadge the boot, then blank off one tailpipe with some kind of bumper extension, then fit a 1" pea shooter exhaust tip to the other.

Maybe a 1.6 badge for the tail?

Often thought about getting an SDI badge for the back of my derv - 68hp to 315bhp must be similar to claiming a 1.6 power to 480hp or whatever is it.

I found it very difficult to capture good photos, either down to my camera being a bit old, or the operator being a complete tool (more likely the latter)

This was about the best macro shot of finished paint I could get. It's almost looking black from this sort of photo.
