Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
Hi,
I see that some is negative towards the Pirelli P-Zero on the C5 RS6. What is the resoning behind that?

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
Not so much reasoning as experience. I have run two sets of P Zero on two different Beasts.
Main issues:
- Not too bad in dry, but not great either
- crap in the damp or wet
- poor wear rate - ate both sets in around 10K miles, or 1600 Norwegian Miles!
You are much better off with Goodyear Eagle F1 Assym, or Mich PS2

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
They are crap basically, i had my 6 sideways with them on. As MrPerc says, go with either the Goodyears or Miches.
Not bad really, 2 weeks since a tyre question.

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
I wouldnt buy any more.Grip really well but too expensive and don't last
Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
Pirelli P-zero rosso, don't have a problem with them, good in the dry, good in the wet,if your getting sideways on a public road in a 1 point 8 ton car, your asking to hit something,no tyre is going to be good in both wet and dry, they will be better in one or the other,i find the pirelli p-zero rosso a good all round tyre and certainly not the most exspensive choice, not the most hard wearing, but if you want grip, your not going to get high mileage,a good all round tyre in my opinion, used on last three cars, fitted as standard to some pretty exspensive metal, tyre choice a personal thing, very dependent on driving style, just my 2 penny worth....WAFFY.....
ducks down..........

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
Don't get in my car with me driving in wet weather with any big clear roundabouts near then, as I go a bit sideways for fun in the beast whenever I can, 6-9 months or so on LingLong L688 tyres teach you how to slide anything like a boss in the wt lol (or at least think you can, probably the more likely case).WAFWOTTBI wrote:if your getting sideways on a public road in a 1 point 8 ton car, your asking to hit something
Saying that, I now have the jap crap which does it far, far better with adjustable front/rear power split and I can just throw a match in it and walk off if I run out of talent and bin her, without crying over it

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
My point about going sideways, well, that's cause the tyres are crap mate. Done the same island loads of times since changing them to Goodyears and all I get is a dirty passenger window from where the wife's face plants up against itWAFWOTTBI wrote:Pirelli P-zero rosso, don't have a problem with them, good in the dry, good in the wet,if your getting sideways on a public road in a 1 point 8 ton car, your asking to hit something,no tyre is going to be good in both wet and dry, they will be better in one or the other,i find the pirelli p-zero rosso a good all round tyre and certainly not the most exspensive choice, not the most hard wearing, but if you want grip, your not going to get high mileage,a good all round tyre in my opinion, used on last three cars, fitted as standard to some pretty exspensive metal, tyre choice a personal thing, very dependent on driving style, just my 2 penny worth....WAFFY.....ducks down..........

You say above that no tyre is good in both wet and dry? What do you class as good? Goodies are fantastic in the wet!!

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
As most have said above the P Zeros a crap compared to the compotation
I haven’t had a RS6 but all my RS4's came with the Pirellis as standard the B5 RS4 was horrible to drive with these very bad tramlining on the white lines change them for Goodyear’s and the car was transformed my B7 RS4 was the same eventually settled on Michelins Super sports can't fault that tire never run the Goodyear’s but nothing but positive comments on them by the forum members my Currant B8 RS4 has Pirellis these seem ok but I will be changing them to Super sports when there done
so i would save your self any greif and go for the Goodyears or Michelins tried and tested by the guys

Re: Pirelli P-Zero on RS6
It would seem i don't drive my cars hard enough, had the 6 sideways on ice,but would of expected that with any tyre, and im sure in the wet on a large roundabout with 500 odd horses, sideways action is easy to achieve, beause ive not had problems in the past, reluctant to change,to lose the six in the dry, where is the space for that on most public roads ??????.....all tyres on here different people like so to take a punt on 4 new tyes, (maybe a grand ) is alot of money for me,to maybe end up with a tyre that i dont get on with, maybe the Pirelli isn't everyones cup of tea,but ive run them on a 20 year old 911 sc,240 brake, very light car, used to easily beat cossies and the like, celica gt4 turbo, that came with Pirelli's on it,again no problems,so maybe not everyones cup of tea but like i say, they suit me,so why risk a change, when i like them, maybe i don't drive hard enough ???????,also some tyres on here that people rave about, some of the more long term posters don't like,so in the end,you pays your money and take your chance.....ducks down again........Daveperc wrote:WAFFY - what tyres have you run on your RS6 for comparison?

You knows while you is ducking down, could you find the full stop please
Not sure you are getting my point about going sideways? You say ''is there space for going sideways on a public road?'' The answer is no, not really. It wasn't the plan believe me, but the tyres had other ideas. I will admit I was giving it some as I was chasing down a fezza (never going to happen round an island though
). As said before, I have done the same speed at the same island loads of time since whilst fashioning a set of Goodyears on the car and not had any issues.
If you are happy with the pshito's, then yes, when the hell would you change. They really do have bad press on this SITE so don't think it is just some long term posters.
