Hi Guys,

I wonder if someone would kindly give me some advice? I have just bought a remapped ECU and need to get it coded without wiping the map, can someone kindly give me some guidance ? I am based in Surrey if that helps.

Thanks guys :-)

A remapped TCU? Remapped by who? Was it a custom tune? If so, is it going to advance your ignition so much that it's gonne put holes in your pistons?

You know no fear...

The ECU was an AMD map, is that ok? Also if so any advice on the recoding? Hx

I don't know anything about AMD maps. Never heard of anyone running one. If it's a generic map it probably won't do any harm to your engine.

If you want to recode the ECU you'll have to look at the stickies where you'll find information on coding keys, etc.

Cool, will Vagcom lite be able do do this?

If you don't have the login code for both the old and new ecu's, you'll need some super sekret ninja software to do this. :sekret:

VCDS lite will do the matching, and long as the AMD ecu isn't coded to the VIN number, it's possible with the usual $5 ebay KKL cable.

I'm north of the border, but can lend a hand remotely if you've got the required hardware.

Lol, some more of that "we do not speak its name" software. The mild-moderate paranoia on here from some does tickle my giblets occasionally ;)

Reeled in beautifully darling xx ;)

As for the ECU, silly question but have you talked to AmD Essex about it and what options they may have for you? If it was done originally via that branch and you have either the seller's name or the reg number, they may well be pretty helpful.

Ben at AmD Essex is a very helpful chap, 01708 861827, ben at amdessex.com. The worryguts in me would still be going with a bespoke MRC/Unit20/QST tune though, but I have no experience with the QST tune.

Depending on where in Surrey you are it may be worth having a chat with Tutts in Dorking.

Nice, helpful guys in there but I'm unsure how good their RS knowledge is.
