pics of cars with pss9s

Post by tmg » Tue Jun 25, 2013 12:19 pm

hey

so as I've been driving around in the c6 s6 for a while now, I've gotten used to the MUCH better ride quality than my rs6 with the PSS9s. I have the rs quite low though, and while it looks pretty excellent, i was wondering what height folks have theirs at.

here's mine, but would be interested in seeing where other folks have theirs...

hmm
so I am on 18's so I reckon then that there could be an inch left in mine then.

so how "crashy" are they at full height?

The springs are linear so there's no difference in ride unless you bottom out. In theory.

I've only ever really driven it at max height. In the top pic it was too low and kept scraping on things.

Cool

I think I will jack them up to max height so and see what happens. I am bottoming out a lot, and hitting quite a few things too so might help to smoothen out the ride.

Yours doesn't look that low, though. TO raise the height of the car, you compress the springs more (I know, counter-intuitive) so you've actually got less available travel before coils of the spring touch and suddenly become incompressible. This results in an unpleasant bang that makes my sphincter twitch. Is this what you're experiencing? Unpleasant banging making your sphincter twitch? ;)

Yeah - I'm on 18's though so there will be some more space in the arches.

so are you saying that you have it all the way up?

Yes, it's up as far as it'll go.

so with the car jacked up to max, do you get a lot of banging on the back roads?

Only if I hit a bump or dip. Or the road is particularly poor.

Yup, no problems at all. I sometimes have to slam the anchors on if I spot a nasty bump or dip, but then I'm generally doing 100 kleptons down single track lanes.

hey

so took a quick photo of the right hand front coilover with the wheel turned out - looks like there is some room to raise up the car all right.

Wow, that's filthy. That spring already looks pretty compressed. How much thread is left? You're going to stuggle to adjust anything there without lots of cleaning.

yeah - power washer to the rescue I think.

hey would it be possible to get a measurement from the centre of the front wheel arch on yours to the ground? see how much there may be left in mine before I go doing a ton of work?
