I would give Chester Transmissions a call on 01244 537070.

No I don't work for them or earn any money from any work that they receive.

They've always been very helpful to me over the phone with info, parts etc.

I deal with Mark most of the time but have spoken to many of the staff there and they're always helpful and polite.

MRC normally will only do official Audi boxes and they have a 2 year warranty off the top of my head. I would confidently say that Unit20 do more RS6 gearbox repair work than any other RS6 specialist in the country.

AmD were discussed a LOT on here a few months ago regarding their gearbox options but due to not being prepared/able to get any decent info from their end supplier regarding their uprated boxes that thread died a death.

A lot depends on what you want to do with the car/box in the medium term.

If you plan on serious power/torque increase etc then you need an uprated box - AMD offer one (though details were sketchy). Chester apparently do one (again we are short on detail) or you can go to the US where 517 Trans will rebuild your box to a "bullet proof" spec for about the same price (including shipping) as an Audi box.

If you plan on selling the car in the next couple of years either an Audi or ZF replacement box is probably the way to go - people will trust the re-build to be solid which they may not from an Inde.

If you just want to run standard power and to get the job done as low cost as possible then AMD or Unit 20 (who use Chester for the box re-build) are probably your best bet.

Personally I run the 517 Trans box with MRC Stage 2 tuned for max torque (880Nm (vs 660 standard)) which is why I smile a lot! :D

That's gotta require an impressive degree of flexibility...

Loving it! Am planning to do a few 0-60 runs with a video or similar when I have time, just to see how it compares with the old beast. Currently too busy driving round the country enjoying myself! 420 miles last Sunday - 6 1/4 hours driving time - and that's with Bank Holiday traffic!

Thank you for all of your advise and replies
I now have some thing to think about and will be making some phone calls tomorrow and getting this thing sorted out
As for plans with the car I will be happy to get it back on the road again owned it 2 months and its been broken for most of it
at least I can sell it with a new box hopefully with a good guarantee and cam belt etc.
:audibash:

You've got it wrong. Once it's fixed, you keep it and drive it.
