Contemplating selling
Contemplating selling
I've too'd and fro'd numerous times about selling my rs through each love hate relationship I've had with it and my recent one is now to maybe consider switching to a b5 rs4... Purely so I can get a wot box!
The rs6's are great but eventually you reach a point where your restricted by the chocolate box!
If have no idea how much it would go for to be honest and its had pretty much everything done to it:
Gearbox rebuild
Ace tc
Recent cambelt and full service from unit20
Miltek full exhaust including down pipes
MRC stage 2
Itg filters
Pss9's
Wagners
New oil cooler hoses
New control arms
115k miles and had a new engine by audi at 60k miles.
I've spent so much on it and not sure if its worth keeping and passing on to someone else and getting something daft with a manual gearbox. Or seeing what it's worth based on the work that's been done on it.
Any thoughts on a price?

With a recent new gearbox and uprated TC, I wouldn't worry about the box. You're right about being restricted though. Look at Amanda's car, uprated turbos etc... and slower than my old stage two... You can go as mad as you like with the B5 RS 4.
Not sure on the value of yours, 10k? See if someone on SRS will do a swap?

Re: Contemplating selling
There is someone on srs looking for an RS6 at the moment, he has posted up about 2. The B5 is a cracker of a car, just a shame the rear leg room is so tight. We have problems with the c5 but the b5 has a few more, if you can get one that has already been tinkered with then you are well on your way. Not a bad move imo.
The b5 can go megga low as well so that will also scratch that itch!!

Re: Contemplating selling
See Amar I couldn't sell it for 10k not after spending over 16k on it in the last two years after I bought the car.
Yeah I do like the look of low cars, my main reason is the manual box though. Looking around at what else there's nothing else that ticks the boxes in after.
Think it's time to research these b5 issues!

Re: Contemplating selling
You probably won't be selling then as I still reckon it isn't going fto fetch much/anything over that. You just don't get money back for mods or upkeep unless you are very lucky. A lot of you won;t have this problem but for me at least, I would never contemplate buying a car that had rolled over 100k for example, for anything other than silly money as a cheap runaround.

Re: Contemplating selling
The B5 resisted the passage of time very well, but it is starting to look a bit dated now. IMO, of course.

Re: Contemplating selling
Unfortunately Amar is right about the rough value, even with a new engine at 60k miles, and the new gearbox.
The mods are dead money, they don't really add any resale value on these cars.
Unless you are willing to take a massive hit on what you have spent, it looks like you'll be a 6 owner for a bit longer.
On a side note, do you think the c6 owners will be having this problem when the c7 has been out a while?

Re: Contemplating selling
The C7 blows the C6 away in looks alone. I think if Audi had done a better job on the aesthetics of the C6 it would have been a living legend.

Totally agree mavada,
Swanny possibly, we don't see many manual cars getting produced these days with decent power via a turbo

yep, and the performance of the ''standard'' c7 ...omg...the c6 will have some modifications to reach that...wait till the tuners get their magic on the c7Shoppinit wrote:The C7 blows the C6 away in looks alone. Re: Contemplating selling
was asking myself when these performance increase with every new fast model ends...at the moment the goal is to lighten the cars (without comprimising quality/durability...) instead of more powah, and of course fuel economy...which ofcourse is rediculous...

Maybe I should just keep it and start saving for something newer then instead of starting the maintenance ball rolling again and going through more drama.

Re: Contemplating selling
Advertise it for a high price/what you feel it's worth and if someone wants your exact car and is will willing to pay it, sell it.
If not, keep it... No harm done as your not desparate to sell. Try a 30 day advert on eBay, advertise it and forget about it.
My friend has done that in the past and you'd be suprised, sometimes you can sell a car way over the market value because the buyer wants it. Selling a car is strange, a buyer will pay what they think it's worth and that's completely different for everyone.
