Water leak again

I have a bit of time off work so i decided to find out why my car keeps steaming up when not being used. I have already checked sunroof drains and bulkhead drains so knew it had to be something else. I removed all the trim and glove box and pulled the carpet up on the passenger side stuck the hose on in the bulkhead area and low and behold water starts coming in the passenger side floor from this Image the part number of the plastic tube is 4B0 260 113 and is called a funnel according to ETKA. I managed to break it trying to get it out (hidden bolt) but £3.92 from TPS won't break the bank :) The problem i have is TPS or myself can not find a part number for the rubber grommet in the floor, any ideas anyone? Shop!

I'm guessing this is the aircon drain tube / funnel but seems strange water is coming up through the grommet.

The grommet appears to be glued in with sealer.

I had the same problem on mine. It is the aircon drain, on mine the end had melted close due to the miltek heating up the heat shield, which the drain tube was touching. I just forced some welding rod through to unblock the end.

I hear what you are saying but the water is coming in from outside the car when i stick a hose in the bulkhead area not from the aircon unit. Good call on the Milltek causing a heat build up though.

Might be road muck built up on top of the exhaust heat shield causing the water to flow up the aircon drain hole?

It *might* be 4B0 260 155. That's a 26mm grommet.

If the water is coming in through the pollen filter isn't it coming out of the aircon unit then?

Have you tried to blow it out .... The end is formed to prevent water coming up the pipe ...

I would say it's blocked so not allowing water out .

When I stick the hose in the scuttle area water poors out of the drain bungs on to the floor as it should but it comes in through the centre of that grommet. That grommet appears to be a lot lower than the scuttle area almost floor pan. The diameter of the funnel where it goes into the grommet is 15mm so 26mm outside diameter seems feasible, I'll get TPS to order it as if it's wrong they will send it back as they haven't got a clue which one it is.

The water is coming in through the centre of that grommet with the funnel removed, I've poked and prodded it and blown it out. I'll have to get it on a ramp and investigate further.

I think so, new drain tube fitted and grommet poked, prodded and blown out no, water coming in now. Any tips to dry out the carpet and sound proofing? I've sucked as much out as possible with a George carpet cleaner but it still quite damp.

Condensing dehumidifier, if you've got one. If not then it's a question of leaving in a nice dry, warm place with the windows open.

And driving with the footwell heaters on full.

Did that turn out to be the right part number? In case anyone searches for it in the future?

I didn't order the grommet as TPS said they had ordered the correct one with the funnel, the original guy thought he had found it. When it turned up it was wrong but I didn't get the part number sorry. Would sticking the car in a body shops oven dry it out?

If you've got one... why not. :) Don't turn it up so much that the interior turns to goo. And roll the windows down.

Careful putting the car in an oven, the aircon gas will need to be removed first!
