RNS-E

Post by Shoppinit » Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:11 pm

What do people think of this?

Seems like an OK price, but had my fingers burned once already. Anyone know the vendor?

who did footers get his rnse from Shop? sure he got the new software for 3d maps or something?

i haven't heard of that seller, but he's got some good feedback. although that may be a tad overpriced for an rnse though.

Looks legit to me - 4 sold (2 recently) and based in uk with good feedback. I've seen these at this price before, but only from eastern europe.

Am tempted myself tbh...

Agree that this looks a decent price given its condition, 2013 maps plus 6 months warranty. No personal experience of the vendors but a mate of mine was happy when he bought a replacement unit from them via Fleabay for his Mercedes E class, but to be fair he was only doing this because he was selling so I can not offer any long term feedback

Or steering wheel controls if you are fortunate enough not to have the pauper spec steering wheel.

I thought it was a 2012 unit. Must have misread the ad. Thanks for pointing that out. Deffo wouldn't get an old spec one.

*you're
*know

They put an older spec RNSE in a 2010 R8? I'm shocked.

that's the only disadvantage, no controls on the steering wheel. But the sound is amazing so more than makes up for it.

My understanding is that the RNS-E's fitted in the later C5 RS6's are relatively rare and hence the higher prices they can command. Although some are advertised with 2012 discs, the later RNS-E units themselves are a completely different spec to the original (2 x SD card slots and LED screens for example). I *think* the units from A3/S3's , part number ending 193G are the ones to have ???
It's here things get tricky for fitting them to our cars as the fascia etc need to be changed

I thought all RNS-Es had 2x SD card slots. The older ones could only take SD cards (not SDHC) so were limited to 4gb, but the later spec could take SDHC too.

Also, does it really have an LED screen? I'm surprised at that, thought it was an LCD (LED backlit perhaps)?
