C5 RS 6 LED Kit

I hadn't ever considered fitting an LED kit to the car, until I sat in Footlong's car and immediately noticed how it lifted the interior, you get so much more light, and it really brings the C5 into the 21st century. What put me off was all the soldering and and effort Footers had to put in, so when a member on here called 'Trups' said he does ready made kits for the C5, I ordered one. I'll need to get some photos to show what a big difference they make, but the kit was worth every penny, you get LED replacement bulbs for everything bar the ashtray lights. You get the footwells, the glovebox and entry/exit lights including the ones on the side door trims all part of the kit. Send 'Trups' on here a message if you're interested, delivery was quick and he was always on hand to answer questions. Photos to come soon.

I have seen the puddle/door ones that Trups does and was tempted to use them for the S3 but as I only have 2 doors/4 reflectors to mod I am going to stick to my way as it won't take me too long to do.
I have been meaning to hit him up for some better matched reading lamp ones. Very easy way to do it going with his and well priced so I recommend that but I prefer the amount of light my buthered custom ones give, for me anyway

.
Don't forget that the passenger footwell uses a smaller light fitting with reduced output as a result, hence why I was anal and bought a matching driver side one, cut the surround to fit and bodged a plug

Btw, post up the price of Trups kit as it really wasn't bad at all if memory serves.

I genuinely cannot remember the price - I bought it some time ago, will leave that one for Trups to answer. It was all labelled up nicely for me and I just slotted them all in.

This isn't the best photo. But the right footwell is OEM, left is LED.

For those of us that haven't seen the end results of a full LED mod, click on my car link in the sig and then find the "My LED interior Light modding exploits, all 6 pages of them... " link and you can get an idea. The Trups kit will give you 90-95% the same result as my custom bodging with none of the hassle.

Linky pleasy? Me lazy.
I'll put the bulb specs in the FUQ.
How does the LED handle the fading? Or does it just wink out? Not sure I could live with that.

All of mine fade in/out perfectly. The only iffy ones are the reading lights, When driving and you turn them on, reduced voltage is fed to them by default and it is borderline for running the particular ones that I have. I know that Trups managed to get hold of slightly different reading lights so his may well. Not sure who you are asking for a link but I put all the bulb types in that thread if memory serves

The current revision Dectane (Litec) lights have 2 key flaws:
Indicators - For some reason they changed from normal bulbs for indicators on the first revisions to LED ones on the current revision and they are very poor and very directional. I was forever getting flashed/beeped etc when changing lanes etc and people couldn't see that I was indicating. The In.Pro lights don't have this problem at all
Reverse lights. The smoking is too dark, simple as that. Don't expect to really have any help from the bulbs whatsoever when reversing in the dark. You have the reverse sensors but still.
The In.Pro lights are just far better imo. Available from Amazon -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/pro-33260-LIght ... 824&sr=8-1 - Think the price has gone up a bit though since I bought.

I did see that change with the indicators between the old and new types but didn't think anything of it. Do you think the red/non-smoked ones would still suffer from the problem?
Im not keen on the In.Pro ones as they dont look quite as OEM with their placement of the reverse light.

I honestly cannot tell you except for the fact that the led indicators seem to be angled out so that from behind you don;t see them nearly that well. Friends and family that have sat behind me actually asked me if my indicators were broken/faulty as they thought they weren't working properly.

Well I guess ill be sticking with OEM unless I spot a set of the old style Dectane ones for sale. Money can be put to use else where on the car.

Hi guys.
C5 kits are £65. (£82 if you buy them separate from me)
This is the kit for All interior lights including the red door warning lights.
The footwells are festoon apart from the passenger which is 501 which i will supply a custom panel like the doors.
Amar's did not have rear footwells, is this the same with all C5's as i have done some before with rears.
Not an RS but a TDI.
