Well couple of weeks ago I had steering pump whine then all of a sudden no steering limped it to my workshop and looked through the wheel and power steering fluid was poring out of the rack garters :FIREdevil:

Anyway phone Audi they wanted £1100 just for the rack so phoned a rack recon place I use they said £180 as long as the internal shaft wasn't shot,so next thought I'd do some research on taking it out ,I was all of a sudden not so happy reading that u have to remove the engine to change it anyway that wasn't going to happen as so busy don't have the room in my workshop so tackled the job from the drivers side wheel arch after making a tool to get to the $1000 bolt it was out in about an hour and a half just to realise the shaft was shot so back to finding a new or recon rack after much searching and comparing I managed to find one for £230 I won't say we're from as don't want to upset the traders on here once I got it it took about an hour to refit and hay presto she is back on the road just shows that big jobs aren't always that big lol

Tell footlong, he won't mind upsetting the traders. And I won't cry for them too much either.

OP has gone very quiet! I am somewhat skeptical that he managed to remove the rack in under two hours to be honest... I know MRC do it this way, but even then it takes them 5 hours to remove, and that's with a proper ramp and all the right tools.

Would love to be proven wrong though! ;)

Mart.
